Direct TV started scamming me before I was an official customer
Signed up for phone for direct TV. The guy explained everything to me. Tells me it has to be a
24 month contract. I get the confirmation email which shows a monthly fee twice was he quoted. I call back
and I'm told that the lower price is for 12 months only and some other mumbo jumbo. And they don't just give you the
prices quoted. You have to log into some rebate site. Cancelled the order. Now Direct TV won't return my $25 deposit (required to start account) for 8-10 days.

5. we've been thinking of going back to dish. we had it a long time ago before directv.
bob got a job and directv and we got a discount. i have looked online and seen a lot of issues when trying to cancel service with dish which concerns me. i know they wanted my sister to climb on the roof and get the dish and send it back to them. not sure about that, but that makes me nervous after the whole AOL never letting you cancel thing i went through a few years ago.

4. wow. i have had directv for a long time. so i haven't had any introductory rate.
i am sorry to hear that. i know that dish has a deal like that with 2 year contract and 1st year having a reduced rate. it's such a racket. it may not be, but it sometimes seems like some kind of collusion to screw us as customers.

8. I've had DirecTV for years..
never had a problem. Those lower prices you were quoted are almost always for a limited time and contingent upon you agreeing to a contract. Perhaps you should have listened closer.

11. I listened plenty close. he tried to zip the 24 months contract past me.
I slowed him down and we went over it. We went over the monthly price. Nothing was said about it being double what we agreed upon. Skank company.

9. I've had DirecTV from day one of their existence.
And I've never had a problem with them. I'm sorry your experience was poor.

10. Have Dish network and am happy
They seem to be very professional and the reception and channels available gives me no cause for complaint.

12. same here.. I have Time Warner for phone & internet & Dish for tv
I know it costs more than "bundling" with some other entity, but I prefer it this way..everything works & I've had few problems:)

13. If it has one, file a complaint with your state's AG's consumer protection unit -- also with the BBB

It's really easy to do online.
