N-word or not, Dr. Laura showed herself to be a bigoted wing-nut |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-13-10 06:50 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
Between all the N____s Dr. Laura said something really shocking.
She told the caller to not take her out of context... not to "go NAACP" on her.
The NAACP took that Breitbart edited out-of-context clip at face value in calling for Sherrod to resign.
That was bad.
But it was not really taking something out of context.
It was more believing Breitbart.
Why didn't Dr. Laura say, "Don't go Breibart on me" instead of "Don't go NAACP on me"?
Because she is obviously a wing-nut AND a racist.
(And we get to the conclusion without ever arguing about rap lyrics!)

11. Hmm... should we also call her a racist kike? |
|
Or maybe we can leave all the hateful group slurs out of this discussion.

2. But even if you've only listened to her show |
|
for a few minutes, her bundle of prejudices becomes very clear.

3. It sounded like she was relieved to have the chance to use that word in public. |
|
"N*****, N*****, N*****""
And she scolds the caller for being "too sensitive".
I won't mince words. Dr. Laura is a Bitch.

10. Sigh... her use of the N-word doesn't give you license to use the B-word. |
|
Feel free to insult this racist ghoul all you want, but can we do it without using sexist slurs?

I just wrote about that here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8942926That "Don't NAACP me" was one of the ugliest things I've heard in a long time.

9. The N-word is a hurtful one to anyone with any sense |
|
of history and human dignity. It is especially hurtful to any individual who is black because if one word can evoke whole eras of wrongful and inhumane treatment, that one can and does. At the very least, her use of it would have been impolite, distasteful and unworthy. But the way she used it and then threw in the "Don't NAACP me" phrase to the caller made it crystal clear that she was using the opportunity to air her own very thinly-veiled biases.
******* Of course, I don't like the B-word or the C-word when used about women either - for exactly the same reasons.

insult others & be immune from the effects, the other thing they seek is personal gain at the cost of the rest.

8. All I can say is that woman needs to go to hell with telling her caller that. |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-14-10 08:34 AM by political_Dem
This is the kind of crap the racists make a person of color put up with all the time. She was trying to make the caller complicit with her wrong-doing.
This is sickening.

Her radio show about family values are completely the opposite of how she led her life in the past. Thankfully I don't get to hear it, don't want to hear it, and it's not on local radio anymore.

a little bit over the years. Her whole thing is telling callers how to live their lives according to The Book of Conservatives "Do as I say, not as I do." Sometimes she berates callers in a very cruel and unfeeling manner.
There is no question that some people are just idiots when it comes to making choices in their lives. But Dr. Laura is way over the top. She is just another version of Rush Limbaugh.

16. The N word is changing seems like |
|
The people who use it for it's original power/hate purpose are now mostly despised, pitied, and shunned. It has been a long time since I heard that word except from rap/hip-hop artists, comedian performances, and in movies (where it is used to set the bad guy up for being pushed out of a helicopter). The virulent form of the N word may be going extinct. At least that is the way it seems to me.

oh the irony when she told the listener she had a chip on her shoulder. Dr. Laura is the one with the issues, the caller seemed fine. Like you said, even without all the n-words, the whole conversation right from the start, revealed a lot about Dr. Laura.
