PNAC -- Right on Target!!!
Edited on Tue May-15-07 07:17 PM by whereismyparty
(From the PNAC document "Rebuilding America's Defenses": "In the future, it will be necessary to unite the current SPACECOM vision for control of space to the institutional responsibilities and interests of a separate military service." The commander-in-chief of SPACECOM at the time the document was drafted was Gen. Richard Myers.)

Today, I encountered a few posts in which people referred to GWB as "incompetent". This falsehood MUST be dealt with: GWB (or whoever is in charge)is FAR from incompetent!!! They certainly do not care one iota for the same values that we here at DU hold so dear. But that does not make them incompetent. Crazy? Perhaps. Out of touch? No Question. Drunk with power? Definitely!!!But "incompetent"? Definitely NOT!!!

I have researched these aspects of the PNAC doctrine "Rebuilding America's Defences" just to prove my point!!!

Look at what all this crazy cabal has accomplished!!!

An example, today's headlines:

U.S. will not allow Russia to veto missile shield: Rice
Reuters
Tuesday, May 15, 2007; 10:05 AM

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The United States will not permit Russia to veto its plans to build a missile defense shield in Europe, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in the Russian capital on Tuesday.

"The United States needs to be able to move forward to use technology to defend itself and we're going to do that," Rice told reporters after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I don't think that anyone expects the United States to permit somehow a veto on American security interests."

PNAC Key Positions
Among the key conclusions of PNAC's defense strategy document (Rebuilding America's Defenses) were the following:

"Develop and deploy global missile defenses to defend the American homeland and American allies, and to provide a secure basis for U.S. power projection around the world." -- IN PROGRESS!!! (see article above)

"Control the new 'international commons' of space and 'cyberspace,' and pave the way for the creation of a new military service--U.S. Space Forces--with the mission of space control." --CHECK!!!

(Space, Missiles, Cyberspace Changing Military Power http://www.defenselink.mil/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=44453)

"Increase defense spending, adding $15 billion to $20 billion to total defense spending annually." -- CHECK!!! AND MUCH MORE EVEN!!! --
("Bush pushes to increase defense spending, Jump of 7% would top rest of world's military budgets" http://www.globalsecurity.org/org/news/2006/060212-defense-spending.htm)

"Exploit the 'revolution in military affairs' (transformation to high-tech, unmanned weaponry) to insure the long-term superiority of U.S. conventional forces." -- CHECK!!! --
("Record-Breaking Pentagon Budget Plan Boosts High-Tech Weaponry" http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=1587415&page=1

"Need to develop a new family of nuclear weapons designed to address new sets of military requirements" complaining that the U.S. has "virtually ceased development of safer and more effective nuclear weapons." -- CHECK!!! --
("Bush pushes for next generation of nukes" http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2003-07-06-nuclear-usat_x.htm)

"Facing up to the realities of multiple constabulary missions that will require a permanent allocation of U.S. forces." -- CHECK!!! --
(In Iraq: "Iraq's US/UK Permanent Bases : Intentional Obfuscation" http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=MEY20060411&articleId=2257;
In Afghanistan: "US Considering Permanent Bases in Afghanistan, General Says" http://www.voanews.com/english/archive/2005-03/2005-03-16-voa15.cfm?CFID=75630107&CFTOKEN=36915377)

"America must defend its homeland" by "reconfiguring its nuclear force" and by missile defense systems that "counteract the effects of the proliferation of ballistic missiles and weapons of mass destruction." CHECK" --
("Nuclear Posture Review" http://www.ucsusa.org/global_security/nuclear_weapons/nuclear-posture-review.html)

"Need for a larger U.S. security perimeter" and the U.S. "should seek to establish a network of 'deployment bases' or 'forward operating bases' to increase the reach of current and future forces," citing the need to move beyond Western Europe and Northeast Asia to increased permanent military presence in Southeast Asia and "other regions of East Asia." Necessary "to cope with the rise of China to great-power status." -- CHECK!!!
("U.S. Wants More Use of South Asian Bases" - http://www.iht.com/articles/2002/02/08/bases_ed3_.php)

Redirecting the U.S. Air Force to move "toward a global first-strike force." -- CHECK!!!
("Colorado FIRST STRIKE Project" http://www.geocities.com/alphacentauri774/home.html)

End the Clinton administration's "devotion" to the Anti-Ballistic Missile treaty. -- CHECK!!!
("U.S. quits ABM treaty" -- http://archives.cnn.com/2001/ALLPOLITICS/12/13/rec.bush.abm/)

"North Korea, Iran, Iraq, or similar states (should not be allowed) to undermine American leadership, intimidate American allies, or threaten the American homeland itself." -- IN PROGRESS!!!

"Main military missions" necessary to "preserve Pax Americana" and a "unipolar 21st century" are the following: "secure and expand zones of democratic peace, deter rise of new great-power competitor, defend key regions (Europe, East Asia, Middle East), and exploit transformation of war." IN PROGRESS!!!

According to the PNAC report, "The American peace has proven itself peaceful, stable, and durable. Yet no moment in international politics can be frozen in time: even a global Pax Americana will not preserve itself." To preserve this "American peace" through the 21st century, the PNAC report concludes that the global order "must have a secure foundation on unquestioned U.S. military preeminence." The report struck a prescient note when it observed that "the process of transformation is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event--like a new Pearl Harbor." - CHECK!!! -- (9-11!!!!!)

WE MUST DISPEL THIS RUMOR THAT THEY ARE IMCOMPETENT!!!!

1. GWB plays the "incompetant" role well enough for an oscar
That was always the plan

They're fucking things up just like they always planned to.

You can make a lot of power and money during pure chaos
That's how the Bush family fortune was made

4. Kick. But you may have to repost after the DU Falwell Wake is over.
There seem to be a lot of people holding an old-style Irish wake tonight -- you know the kind with the drinking, singing, dancing, and occasional fistfight breaking out. ;-) "He'll never be forgotten!" :eyes:

8. I agree with you about gw* not being incompetent
Hes' done everything he set out to do. Bankrupt social services. Secure Iraqi oil contracts. Divide the country. Make the rich richer.

He's not intelligent, or a critical thinker. He's not deep. But his residency is the first thing that he's been successful at.

Of course, his success comes at our (America's) loss.

15. Anybody who thought PNAC and the Neocons were about anything
other than oil and military might were sadly mistaken. They were never out to build and promote "democracy" or "American values", not in Iraq, the ME, or anywhere else. That was a cover story, and there are still some who believe it. There was never a real plan to "transform" the ME into a happy land of peace and freedom--they were just hoping for regimes weakened and acquiescent enough to permit us to stay and guard the spoils.

I fear PNACS next target in this 'deterrence to the rise of a new great competitive power' is in the near term ..... Iran (regionally in the Middle East). In the long term China/Russia and who knows how many others are on the list? It's our way or the highway, if you attempt to trump PNAC's agenda for Global Domination. And of course Rampant Capitalists, and the Military Industrial Complex have no problem with a policy like this. Lots of players in the elite's quest to control everything.

'Many Military missions .... to secure and expand zones of democratic peace' Is just another phrasing for The Bush Doctrine of Pre-Emptive War. And it has NOTHING to do with PEACE, democracy..... or for that matter 'Homeland Security'. What a bunch of B.S. the powers that be spew ..... :eyes:

Thanks for taking the time to put this all together in the OP. Peace.

22. Bolton: Attack Iran before it gets bomb
Edited on Wed May-16-07 04:57 PM by seemslikeadream

Iran should be attacked - as a last resort - before it develops nuclear weapons, former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

Bolton, who stepped down from his post in December 2006, told the Daily Telegraph that the European Union has to "get more serious" about Iran following its failure to halt Iran's uranium enrichment program with diplomatic sanctions.

# 'Bush may strike Iran near end of term'

"It's been conclusively proven Iran is not going to be talked out of its nuclear program. So to stop them from doing it, we have to massively increase the pressure.

"If we can't get enough other countries to come along with us to do that, then we've got to go with regime change by bolstering opposition groups... that's the circumstance most likely for an Iranian government to decide that it's safer not to pursue nuclear weapons than to continue to do so. And if all else fails, if the choice is between a nuclear-capable Iran and the use of force, then I think we need to look at the use of force," Bolton told the Telegraph.

26. Agreed. The militarization of space is a top priority.
They have also driven money and power into the hands of a tiny percentage of the U.S. population, another check. Taken out Saddam and entrenched us in the Middle East as conquerors. Check. Shredded the Constitution and intimidated a complacent press. Check. Destroy the social safety net. Not quite checked, but they are not finished. They handled Social Security poorly, and that was their linchpin. They are determined to end it, though.

I have been warning about this crowd and the militarization of space for years. Great post.

:grr:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=878276&mesg_id=878276

In the House of Representatives last week Democratic Party Congress members lead the way to approve money for Star Wars research and development programs in the fiscal year 2008 budget.

Rejecting the recommendations of a sub-committee, Representatives Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) and John Larson (D-CT) restored $150 million to Pentagon boost phase missile defense programs, $48 million for future missile defense systems, including space sensors, $12 million more for sea-based sensors and language to allow $160 million for a highly controversial European missile defense site.

Isn't it great that the grownups are back in charge? :sarcasm:

Oh yes, the publication date of "Rebuilding America's Defenses", the report with the line about "a new Pearl Harbor'? September 2000. :tinfoilhat:

29. George Bush* doesn't know PNAC from Peanutbutter, BUT....
he does what he is told without question.
The same people that control bush* also have their hooks into some BIG Democrats (witness the "secret" Free Trade Deal).
Some of the Founding Fathers of the DLC are also Founding Fathers of PNAC.

American (Global) Corporate Predation backed by US Military continues and expands
The American Working Class continues to be marginalized
Income disparity widens
REAL Power & Wealth continues to be concentrated into fewer hands
Policy is set in the Boardroom backroom, not the voting booth
More National Wealth is diverted into the MIC, and away from Social Programs
Governmental Transparency continues to decline
Media Control continues to be concentrated into fewer hands

The Democrats WIN....and nothing much changes.

33. This post is right on target
All Americans should read "Rebuilding America's Defenses", and they should think long and hard about how that document trashes REAL American values, disguising there trashing of real American values with a great mass of patriotic sounding words and phrases. And, they should think long and about, as you meticulously point out, how successful they've been in their efforts to ruin our country.
