1. Falwell was a bigger threat to MY America |
|
However, I suppose Saddam was a bigger threat to right-wing fundamentalists and progressives a bigger threat to them than either.

2. Falwell was one of the most polarizing figures of the last 30 years |

The damage he did to our nation via his bigotry and hate did so much more to corrupt the American way-of-life than Saddam could ever hope to.
Goodbye, Jerry - hope Hitler is your eternal "Bubba" in hell...

6. What a sad result that a homicidal dictator |
|
is winning over an American citizen.....Falwell might not be my cup of tea but he was nothing compared to Hussein.

What did Saddam EVER do to US? You do know there was not one single Iraqi on "those" planes, don't you? Falwell spread hate and violence and bigotry, right here at home and influenced the kind of people who kill gays, minorities, etc. It's a no-brainer. Saddam doesn't even come close. Lee

As for Hussein who said anything about 9/11??? I didn't......
but he was an evil christian so I guess hatred towards him is ok :sarcasm: .....what a sad sad day for progressives everywhere, celebrating the death of a human being......Quite tolerant we are today I see........nevermind enjoy your orgy of hatred I'm gonna say a prayer for the man's family and his eternal soul. He might have been wrong but he doesn't deserve this.......

13. You must think that Karl Marx was a benign influence in world history. |
|
After all, he never killed anybody. Just sat around quietly writing books.
How was Saddam Hussein ever a threat to this country?

10. The question is asking "who was the greatest threat" |
|
Edited on Tue May-15-07 08:56 PM by calteacherguy
Think about that carefully. Not who was more evil, but who was the greater threat to America.

12. Jerry Falwell initiated a far right, religious fascist movement |
|
designed to hijack the American political system and destroy our Constitution and democratic form of government, and he has been successful beyond what my wildest nightmares once were.
Saddam Hussein was a two bit tinpot dictator of a distant country that never posed a threat to us.
Yes, Saddam was a bad man. There are lots and lots of bad people in the world. Just being bad does not necessarily make one a threat to this country.
You really can't understand that a citizen of a particular country could be a terrible threat to that country, or is it just American exceptionalism that renders our country immune from destruction from within?

14. Like Rome, America will fall because of internal decay, not external invasion |
|
Edited on Tue May-15-07 09:04 PM by WildEyedLiberal
The barbarians could never have stormed the gates if centuries of corrupt and maleficent misrule had not destroyed the foundations of the empire. No external enemy can hope to defeat America as long as our country stands proud and true to its liberal democratic principles. Falwell did more than most people to help erode that foundation; more damage than any two-bit sandbox dictator could ever, ever hope to do.
