New rule: If you're not willing to walk two city blocks, you can't call it the "ground zero mosque" |

1. Two city blocks has nothing to do with it |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-15-10 01:25 PM by dkf
It was the site of the attack. When planes are used as missiles and part of the plane goes through the roof of the old Burlington coat factory and people are saved because they weren't on the top two floors because the store wasn't open yet and they were in the basement that is part of the attack site.

So a piece of the plane went through the roof at the Burlington coat factory. What does that have to do with anything?

3. The molecule dispersion is such that you're breathing air from Ground Zero right now. |
|
So what?
What part of the Bill of Rights are you giving up just because you're breathing air that was breathed by the people in NYC on 9-11?
Are you sure your house has never had a murder in it? How sure?

17. So All Muslims Are Responsible? |
|
There's also an old church right in that same "air" at the WTC area. Now had that been christian extremists who had flown those planes, should that 300 year old church be demolished?
Ya know there were people of the Islamic faith who were working in those buildings and lost their lives. To their families its the same sacred ground as anyone else who lost a loved one. Shouldn't ALL be given the opportunity to have access to the site and, if so compelled, to say a prayer in privacy? Or is this more Faux Noise broadbrushing?

4. And so. Muslim prayers take place every weekday in the |
|
9/11 Memorial Chapel in the Pentagon. Muslim Services are held each Friday in the same chapel. Muslims were killed in the Twin Towers, too. In the very building that was attacked. Nobody seems alarmed about that, now, do they?
Islam did not make the attack. Individual Muslims did.
Islam has the same rights, exactly, in the USA to worship and build places of worship as do Southern Baptists. I'm an atheist, but I don't give a damn if someone want to worship. Why should I care?

5. No. The site of the attack is two blocks away. The building in question got hit with |
|
shrapnel. It's not part of the site of the attack.

9/11 attack.
So many people are swallowing this lie. I expect crap like this from republicans not from our side. Everytime I see someone spread this lie it pisses me off to no end.
Be truthful people. Acknowledge the connection to 9/11 and say it doesn't matter because you can't stop a mosque from being built directly on the twin towers either and if you dislike it suck eggs. But don't spread crap lies in the process.
Sometimes I think people forget that there were people in the planes that died that day. That is what makes this part of 9/11 too.

Will happen when numerous huge airplanes are used as missiles. All of those buildings were part of the attack as were all the airplanes. Just like Pittsburgh was part of the attack even though no buildings were damaged there at all. The airplane that hit the cordoba site used to have living breathing people on it. Like I said...how soon we forget.

"It was the site of the attack."
The site of the attack was WTC. No kidding, many buildings will get damaged when airplanes are used as missiles in densely populated urban areas.
The site of the attack was WTC.

Since, of course, building a mosque shows intent to attack again. See?

15. "you can't stop a mosque from being built directly on the twin towers" |

Everywhere had something to do with the 9/11 attack, so therefore nowhere should have a mosque.
There is no mosque being built directly on the twin towers. "people forget that there were people in the planes that died that day. That is what makes this part of 9/11 too/"
People died in the 9/11 attacks, and that is what makes all of NY part of 9/11 too and therefore there should be no mosques built in NY or the Pentagon or anywhere else anyone that had any connection to the spot died or was affected by the 9/11 attacks. Ah. Speaking of crap.

It's been *9 years*. The entire neighborhood is NOT a shrine. Our city is not one big sacred site where people get to infringe on the rights of others because people died.
Should cops not be allowed to go near the sites where unarmed citizens were shot and killed - for no reason - by police?
