5. Never encountered a ghost...
...but I've seen plenty of wasps, grasshoppers, and the shed skin of what might have been a rattlesnake.

4. Thurber, TX - August 2010
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 10:43 AM by derby378
I visited the company town of Thurber back in June, but returned yesterday partially for the stuffed spuds at the Smokestack Restaurant - and also to get pictures at the Thurber Cemetery, which was closed during my last visit. Note the T&P logo on the front gate:

The gravesite of Randolph Bennett, who served as Thurber's mayor for practically all of his adult life. Some of the plots at the cemetery are bordered with bricks manufactured at what used to be Thurber's brick district:

The Wasibleski family plot at Thurber Cemetery:

Grave markers for an early denizen of Thurber and a member of Woodmen of the World:

An old bandstand, preserved on Thurber's New York Hill - you can see the iconic smokestack on the other side of the interstate:

A view of New York Hill along with the historical marker:

6. Apologies if one of the grave photos is posted sideways
It's supposed to be oriented correctly at the source, so I don't know why the code is acting up on GD. You should still be able to make out some detail, though.

14. And tumbleweed. You forgot to mention the tumble weed. I feel
a song coming on ... 'tumbaling tumbleweeds' ...
Seriously our dear great state of California proud of it's fruits and nuts, almonds and strawberries, to mention just a few, has far more ghost towns, from further back.
And tumbleweed too.
