3. And me, time to draw that fuckin' line on the sand |
|
I am so tired of the RW (insert tanter trantrum) getting them these "victories."
He means well, and while he said keep the true radicals out... you try to keep Newt out.

4. Just because we respect the man, doesn't mean he's right always |
|
He's wrong - DEAD wrong
But on most things he's on the right side of history

7. It's quite inexplicable. Dean knows better. Where the HECK does it end? |
|
What if they agree to move? There'll just be ANOTHER hue and cry there. How far is far enough?? Harlem? Queens?? Outside NYC?? That is the question Dean and others should be forced to answer. We should not even be having this DISCUSSION - that's what shameful!!

11. Even worse, some will now feel emboldened. It's been said many times here.. |
|
Where will it stop? The US is a big country and with a small percentage of hateful bigots with a neocon media more than willing to give it a microphone.
Same crap, different day with the same usual suspects and the same old evil agenda to destroy what is good in this country.

6. "Let this be a teachable moment"--Okay, I still love the good doctor |
|
At least his reasoning is sound, which is more than I can say for a lot of people. He likened the brouhaha to that of getting civil unions passed in Vermont, which was a way of saying he's seen shit like this before and has lived through it.
I've made my views known about the community center (they should get to build it there) but Dean gets a thumbs up from me nonetheless.
I'm going back to watch the rest of Countdown.

8. Well, the 'teachable moment' should be about the Constitution, no? |

12. Yes, actually it should. Also about the content of moderate Islam, and who American Muslims are |
|
I hope you watched the conversation he and Keith had -- if you missed it, catch it on the rerun of Countdown. When Dean references the process of getting civil partnerships done in Vermont -- I already mentioned that, but you should think about what that means in his own history. It got done.

10. Don't presume that because Dean is a Doctor..... |
|
that he has common sense. I had one of 'those Doctors' as an adopted Father. NOT smart...just because he's a Doctor. Dean is WRONG...Keith is right.

13. What do you know about Governor Dean MD from his campaign for president? Anything? |
|
I think he has less than zero to do with your dad. Sorry about your childhood.
Aside from that -- did you watch the segment with Keith. If not, catch it on the rerun.
My respect for him has nothing to do with my disagreement with him. The fact that I disagree (and if you want to do a search for my name here, you'll see exactly -- and at great length -- where I come down on this issue) does not lessen my respect for him. He is trying to find a way forward, and he knows exactly which RWnuts should NOT be allowed anywhere near a reconciliation/education discussion. (Limbaugh -- Beck -- O'Reilly? No way in hell. They exist to divide.)

14. Howard understands that sometimes the victory is how you get it done. |
|
What bridges you build along the way...
A compromise that shows compassion and sympathy is the best lesson a person could learn about the Muslim faith. This Imam has a chance to be the bigger man. He can be celebrated as a peacemaker the world over. It is his if he wants it.

15. Dr. Dean also understands there are times when you must pick |
|
your battle. Some fights may be on the surface one thing when underneath something else is going on and because of this it is better to be on one side and live to fight another day.
