Many disabled people who do not qualify for full SSDI benefits (usually because they are able to work) still get SS benefits in some form, I am one of those people. Talk of cutting SS benifits, therefore, scares the ever-living SHIT outta me.

Then when they only double your health premiums and you do not lose Social Security you will be relieved.

2. Disability is what gripes them
the rants about the "welfare people" is really aimed at the disabled.
Welfare has changed and either the RW is not keeping up or they object to people being on disability. My guess is - both.

4. A RW asshole on another message board constantly attacks me for just that reason.
Calls me lazy, accuses me of making excuses, calls me a selfish jerk who "lives of of Minnesota's teat", and other such nasty things.

See posts 9 and 16 of that thread as an example of that disgusting poster.

5. pretty awful posts
I just do not know what is happening to people in this country. So many are turning to hate and meanness. They are in fact ignorant but are making headway in setting policy in this country.
Narcissistic sociopaths.

3. 20th anniversary year of the ADA and this is proposed
It's shameful.

Thanks for posting this Odin.

And so often the two combine.

There was a good article in the Seattle Weekly today about the 99ers - those people whose employment benefits are running out.

One of the people is a woman with a disability who is trying desperately to stretch out money (really credit at this point) while she's waiting to qualify for SSDI.

6. I'm in the same boat.
I've been permanently disabled since I was 48 years old and on full SSDI benefits. I'll be 65 in a few weeks. My Medicare supplement premium went up 33% in January and my SSDI benefits check went up 0%. With utilites, energy and food cost increases it's absolutely horrifying to try to make ends meet.
