he (unconsciously) tapped himself on the chest?
rather than gesturing heavenwards, as you would normally do?

1. Of course he did, he's the Messiah. |
|
Haven't you been paying attention?

Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

4. Not to quibble, because in this context pointing at oneself does seem |
|
very disconcerting and megalomaniacal.
If god is to be found, one finds god within oneself not in the sky.

6. I'm just speculating. It's open to interpretation |
|
but this is Glenn Beck after all; and he does have a record of quasi-messianic behaviour. Who knows.

8. true that, and interesting op too. the Xalcoholic, who he is leads me to think of OP |
|
the person that understand spiritual would point to self, knowing it is within.
but interesting contrasting theory
like the liar that says yes and shakes head no all the while

7. A lot of evangelicals dislike him because he pushes "turning inward" and "looking in yourself" to |
|
find God, and that's just way too New Agey for them. They dislike him because of the Mormonism, but they also dislike him because of where he thinks you can find God. I'm assuming that's why he tapped himself.
Wait, WTF? It's a gorgeous day, I have outside chores to do -- why the hell am I sitting here trying to interpret WTF Beck does when I could be out in the sun with a drink?

That sort of christianity seems to often (not always) go hand in hand with just imagining your own prejudices and self interests are in tune with the nature of creation and the will of god etc. Beck exemplifies this.

11. It's not new agey. It is a fundamental understanding in many religious doctrines. |
