5. no, he was not brought in to clean up the "scandal".
apparently the Olympics were not being well managed and were floundering. He was brought in to organize and manage the actual games themselves. The scandal was over the bid for the Olympics which happened years earlier and long over before Mitt showed up.

2. nada
the scandal had to do with alleged bribes to get the Olympics. Romney was brought in years later to "save" the Olympics from alleged mismanagement. He was not around at all during the bid process where the scandal was.

he came in, took the Olympics over from the crooks and did a good job. I don't think however, this makes him presidential.
