John Bolton 2012? Bush's Former U.N. Ambassador Won't Rule Out Presidential Run

Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton declined to rule out a run for the White House in 2012 when asked about his presidential ambitions in an interview with the Daily Caller published Monday.

"In the sense that I want to make sure that not only in the Republican Party, but in the body politic as a whole, people are aware of threats that remain to the United States," said Bolton, a high-profile and controversial recess appointee made by former President George W. Bush. "You know, as somebody who writes op-eds and appears on the television, I appreciate as well as anybody that...there is a limit to what that accomplishes... Whereas, some governor from some state in the middle of the country announces for president they get enormous coverage even if their views are utterly uninformed on major issues."

Bolton called it "a very great honor" that anyone would be interested in the prospect of him mounting a presidential campaign and added, "You know, it is something that would obviously require a great deal of effort."

When Bolton was asked if he would identify himself as a member of the Tea Party, given his staunchly conservative approach to policy, the American Enterprise Institute fellow and Fox News commentator had this to say:

"I've never attended any Tea Party functions," he said. But, he added, if the movement is, as he understands it, "a true grassroots movement of people who are absolutely outraged at the extent that the Obama administration has bungled its economic policy, overspent dramatically, risked creating a deficit that will burden us for generations" than he thinks "it is pointed in exactly the right direction" and he is "all in favor of" it.

14. Be careful what you wish for because you may get it.
Come 2012 if the economy is still in the crapper, then many voters may be looking to vote against Obama and not for his opponent.

22. Good lord.
Bolton is the current incarnation of why U.S. foreign policy has sucked fiercely since at least the years following the Second World War.

I assume he drinks blood at meals.

23. Oh I bet he wants to be president. He could force people to do so much as President and that
is what he really likes is the "struggle" he can force onto people if he was in charge. Making people do things against their will is favourite thing. Bush was just his mini-me.

26. Bolton on the issues:
Foreign Policy: There is no global problem that can't be solved by the United States exerting its considerable military power. Iran's nuclear capability must be eliminated by force.
Targeted bombing in Afghanistan and Pakistan has proved unsuccessful. A broader 'shock and awe' campaign must be waged in those countries to eliminate future terrorist threats.

The Economy: The Pentagon and the nation's military contractors employ many Americans. With expanded federal money, they'll be able to employ a lot more.
To create demand for increased production of armaments, as President I will institute a program of expanded bombing here in the Homeland. Any and all industrial demolition, excavation, mining, and related projects in the country will be done with government mandated bombing runs. The necessary rebuilding of any collateral damage from this program would be a boost to the construction industry nationwide.

Energy Policy: Cars are currently powered by small, controlled explosions in internal combustion engines. The United States needs to be weaned off of foreign oil and on to domestic bombs. With government subsidized development of the external combustion engine, patriotic, American bombs could power half the automobiles on the road by 2025, and most of the nations electricity grid.

Education: Real changes in advancing public education can only be made by altering the infrastructure. Sure, you can fire underperforming teachers, but that's only part of the solution.
My "No School Left Standing" program would bomb and raze failing schools. This sends a serious message to school administrators to enact real reforms at the grass roots level. And, it would demand the partnering of these institutions with the parents of the children they serve. Bombing a school's resources back to the stone age forces parents and teachers to work together to meet the most basic needs such as finding a place to teach, food for lunches, etc..

Climate Change: An intensive bombing campaign can be used to kick particulate matter into the upper atmosphere to block the sun's rays and cool the ever increasing temperature of the entire globe.

Social Security: Bombing

Healthcare: Bombing, followed by bombing

Bombing: Bombing

bomb bombing bomb bomb bomb. Bombing.

28. But can the American people absorb a candidacy
whose central figure has such a bushy mustache?

Not that that would dissuade Bolton from an independent run, with someone like Chuck Norris as his veep.
