October 2. A DC March for US. (from DKos) |
|
Story Updated. 1 new comment: from kurious. Daily Kos IMPORTANT: October 2nd: A DC March for US! (With some more info) Hotlist ShareNew 0 by oxfdblue Mon Aug 30, 2010 at 06:56:53 PM EDT
How many of us have been saying, "Where is our giant DC rally?"
My fellow Kossacks, I have the answer.
I was surfing around my union's web page (uft.org) and I see this little "Action Alert": March in Washington on Oct. 2!
Huh? Really?
Well, I click the link and sure enough, finally, it seems there is a real, meaningful DC march and rally for us- the normal people. No promises of miracles, no overpriced gold coins, no stealing and distortion of our nation's heritage. A rally for what this country is really about.
More over the jump.

This is the first I've heard of this, so if it has been diaries before, my apologies. There is to be a press conference on Broadway on Wednesday, at Bowling Green. (The Bull Statue.)
Under the title of One Nation Working Together, this event has a big list of sponsors:
Some of the big ones: The AFL-CIO, the NAACP, SEIU, PowerPAC.org, Green for All, The Leadership Conference, and several dozen more.
title=
What this rally is about is simple: everything we scream and yell and stomp our feet around here for. The Rally's Mission Statement reads:
We all deserve a just and fair chance to achieve the American Dream. Our national identity is rooted in the ideal that all people – regardless of race, class, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, heritage or ability – should have the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
One Nation Working Together will chart a bold, pragmatic path toward a more unified, sustainable, prosperous future by building support for these core principles and policy ideals.
The major goals: Jobs, Public Education, and Equality for All.
Could we ask for anything better?
Last Saturday we saw a fraud and crank gather about 90,000 to hear a couple of hours of absolutely nothing. On October 2, one month before Election Day, it's our turn.
MORE IMPORTANT INFO: (Big H/T to noofsh for this)
Here's a link to resources you can use to promote this rally:

You may want to include this link in future journals.
In the toolbox file, you can find pledge cards. We want to get as many people as possible to sign one. In lieu of that, getting the word out is really important. The pledge card doesn't obligate you to anything but it does give the sponsors a way to know how many buses they need to arrange. Yes, the sponsors are running FREE

2. After watching 8/28's Fail Fair, I'm a-going to this. |

It's easy for me because DC is a mere 6 hour drive and I gots a free basement with digital cable waiting for me. Easy bus/metro access also. Love that city. It's like my home away from home. It's worth the ravaged feet.
This is the kind of thing I've been waiting for. Hope it doesn't devolve into an Anti-Obama rally. I don't want anything to do with the TeaDouchers until they wake the hell up and understand that an employer/corporation-controlled country will bury this nation under a mountain of debt and greed.
