"House worker, not a field hand type at all". the image that accompanied that thought had bidden in his ball cap from the Alito hearings, puffing on a big cigar and rockin' on trent Lott's front porch. :puke:

49. Basically you get the impression that Biden thinks articulate black people are an anomaly |
|
rather than the norm.
That's what irks me. He's jealous. After all, he's been toiling away in the Senate for ages and here comes this young upstart who gets instant media converage with no substantive record to speak of.
However, I think what you are seeing is the people (including the media) indicating a preference of someone with maybe a short legislative record or little experience over someone with a bad legislative record on some of the most important issues.

59. Someone with a clear vision that includes HOPE is what we all |
|
are seeing in Obama. I was moved to tears at his speech at the 2004 convention and mentioned to my family that I thought we had just heard a future President speak.
What Bidden needs to consider - "It's the message, stupid". His message has been so off track for so many years that he should be happy that they still let him eat in the same room as the grown ups, much less at the same table. He killed his chances with me forever with the stunt at Alito's hearings and with that lousy bankruptcy bill. We don't need another "joke" of a President. Not in my lifetime anyway.
Obama is more like Kennedy (and yes, Kerry and Edwards too) with a message of hope. I don't agree with everything he says, but I rarely agree with everything anyone says.
I just think Bidden is so past his prime and statements like the one he made about Obama just add fuel to his Presidential Hopeful funeral pyre.

16. As much as I dislike Biden, he didn't use the word "Negro"...... |
|
and I resent that being in your header.
What Biden said was what he said which doesn't make him look all that great anyways......But when folks take it upon themselves to change the words coming out of other people's mouth, that misrepresentation really puts bias and emphasis on OP's own motives.
So, you should change your storyline and take out the "negro" part, cause I couldn't find it as something that Biden said. The guy is enough of a blowhard to destroy his own self....no need to put words in his mouth.
I will also say that to a great degree there are many White folks who think like Biden....that Obama is one who is relatively non-threatening and a cut above the ordinary. But Obama is that in comparison to quite a few not just restricted to those within his own race.

Just because Biden told the truth about the whole rationale for the Obama presidential campaign -- DU is goin' nuts.
The only reasons anyone is paying any attention to Obama's presidential effort is because he is a " mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
Because we all know that there is no 'there' there to Obama -- no experience, no leaderhip on issues, no great personal triumphs over adversity, no special parliamentary skills ...

Thanks for saying what had to be said there earthside. People are too willing to bandy the racist accusation around where it doesn´t apply. I think everyone who supports Obama, including Obama himself, are doing themselves a disfavor by overemphasizing race (same point goes for gender with HRC) at the expense of actually building a case for the candidate. We all know we can leave it to the Thugs in the general to focus on such inane banalities, so why are we beating up our own and on each other on these non-issues? I can accept that people don´t like Biden for various reasons. I do, however, based more on what I think he is capable of, specifically in the foreign policy arena. While his statement is not recommended for a candidate, it´s a hell of a stretch to call him a racist based on selective interpretation.
