8. Agree. I would expect someone on Dick Lugar's staff to wake the |
|
old fool up and let him know that Bush is planning to undo generations of work in corn and soybean fields in Indiana.
Hagel, Lugar . . . all those red-state farm Rethug senators need to confer over lunch. Their president is making things real rough for the party's 08 chances.
It's too bad the GOP didn't become the party of Pete McCloskey and Lowell Weicker and chose the pack of thugs and thieves it is today instead.

2. Finally! Bush has at long last asked someone to sacrifice for the war effort |
|
I'm tempted to use the sarcasm icon, but I'll refrain.

3. Notice Bush's use of the word "ME" |
|
It's always personal with Bush. He doesn't give a damn about what's best for the country. He cares about Bush.

9. The article says that the income cap to recieve subsidies is |
|
2.5 MILLION?? Am I reading this right? You can still get subsidies if your farm is making 2.5 million dollars a year?

14. I grew up on a farm and thought all farm subsidies were good |
|
until I looked at the last farm bill. There are tax cuts for General Motors, Exxon and a host of other big businesses that really have nothing to do with farming. Silly things like deductions for the farm land leased to put wells on.
Still, it's another voting block.

Did you expect Bush to stand up and take Congress' slapping of his hands with the grace and humility of anyone else who has held the office of president? Where would you get the idea that he has any grace or the ability to be humble...no, he's going to throw a temper tantrum and lash out like the repugnant, impetulant child we've all come to recognize.
