An Odenton minister convicted of molesting a 10-year-old boy was sentenced yesterday to five years in prison.
Enoch Jermaine Hill, 29, sat quietly as Judge William C. Mulford II dismissed his pleas for leniency and ordered him to prison.

Judge Mulford - describing the case as "a matter of betrayal" and a "tragedy" for both the victim and the defendant - sentenced Hill to 20 years in prison, but suspended 15 years, as well as placed him on five years of probation. As a condition of his probation, he must register as a child sex offender and stay away from his victim and other children.

County police said Hill, a minister at House of God Church in Essex, abused the boy at his apartment on Peaceful Way in Odenton. The abuse occurred for about six months beginning in the summer of 2004. The boy, now 13, reported it to his mother in April 2006.
During questioning, Hill confessed to police. Later he testified he was innocent and confessed just to end the "nightmare" of being falsely accused. He said he thought he wouldn't be arrested, since a detective told him all the boy wanted was an apology.
