Hey, Craig, I can make the case to use "beauty" or maybe "travel/vac". "Creative", "event", or ..... |
|
.... "lessons" could work.
But for sure, "skill'd trade" would work. (why the apostrophe instead of the "e" it replaces? What's up with that?)
Craig, see, here's the thing. You caved to the right wing nuts, but people who want, or want to provide, the services advertised in "adult" are not going to stop because you got knocking knees and caved to the religionuts.
What part of "consenting adults" don't you get.

2. "...take immediate action to end the misery for the women and children..." |
|
Craig wrote, in part:
"In our view, the company should take immediate action to end the misery for the women and children who may be exploited and victimized by these ads. Because craigslist cannot, or will not, adequately screen these ads, it should stop accepting them altogether and shut down the Adult Services section."
The man isn't obliged to provide "connecting" services for consenting adults.
It's not like people have been deprived of their rights or something.

3. Then why, oddly, limit this to the US craig's list? |
|
I guess, if that's true, ol' craig's cool with exploiting non american kids?

4. Um, maybe there is a legal threat here and nowhere else? |
|
And why are you calling him "ol Craig"?
Craig Newmark a huge community guy in San Francisco. The idea that he would exploit anybody's kids is stupid and offensive.

5. It was the person to whom I responded who brought up exploiting kids, not me. |
|
So take that part up with him, not me.
I was talking about him caving on a classified category.
Would "young craig" make ya feel better? Don't know why it matters.

I believe that consenting adults should be able to make any arrangements for "dates" that they want. However craigslist really has no way of policing that section. The major problem is; too many people are getting victimized. From the young girls who are kidnapped, drugged and forced to work as a sex slave for some cyber-pimp -to the poor guy that thinks he getting laid and ends up being robbed or killed.
I'm sure many people have successfully hooked up there, but there's way too many victims. So what do you do?

7. If you want the whole problem to get fixed, legalize sex work |
|
Let sex workers register and get a license. Let them post their lic number in their ads.
I bet a LOT of sex arrangements get made on cell phones. Maybe we ought to ban them, too?
Sex work isn't going to stop, or even slow down, because that particular venue was shut down.
