Huh... Maybe they're not ALL batshit crazy |
|
Okay, so a friend I work with from time to time let me know she is a republican today... but when given the chance to blame Obama for the economy, she said "I don't like him, but you can't blame him for that."
That's the first republican I have encountered that DIDN'T try to blame Obama for the economy.
So... there is at least one I know that isn't a nut.
That's all I got. No bigger point. Have a nice labor day.

WHOLE PARTY that image. I'f I were Bohner or McConnel, I'd use my power to shut up the really insane ones.
O wpmder just how afraid The Mitster & tje Boners are of getting (by accident) these teabagger candidates into their crowd. You have to know they're not going to join the 100% crowd if they get to DC, and the bys who have enjoyed at least 2 years of total followers and life is not going to be good for them.

3. It's possible that *most* of them are not crazy. |
|
What is beyond doubt is that ALL of them are egregiously misinformed. Based on what they "know" (including the imminent imposition of Sharia Law throughout America, for example), their reactions are understandable. The continuous spreading of lies and misleading "facts" by Fox "News", combined with hateful anti-liberal rhetoric spewing from right-wing hate radio has these poor simpletons murderously agitated about things that are not true now and never will be. ("Obama's going to take away all our guns! Lock and load!")
Scientific surveys have shown that the more you watch Fox "News", the LESS informed you are about what is actually happening. (A high percentage of Fox "News" viewers believe that we found WMD in Iraq, for example.)
You show these people proof that they are wrong and they double down and dig in. New facts are simply ignored if they disturb their pre-determined mindset (that Obama is an evil, America-hating Muslim terrorist, for example). They can't be reached with facts, logic, history, or expert opinion. Only Beck and Palin are correct for them.
Your friend is the rare exception who has not (yet?) been reduced to merely parroting Fox "News" talking points.
Crazy? Maybe not. Butt ignorant? You bet!

5. If they vote Repub, then they're bat-shit crazy (with possible moments of lucidity like your friend) |
|
Toward the end of Bush's reign, I got tired of hearing Republicans say "I'm conservative, but I don't like Bush."
I wanted to reply: Really, asshole? Who did you vote for in 2004? In 2000?
It's great that your friend's eyes are open enough to recognize that Obama isn't the source of the catastrophe, but I suspect that she'll still pull the red lever when she enters the voting booth.
