I think we Democrats will do well in November |
|
I don't care what the pundits say, I think we Democrats will fare well in November. I say that for two reasons, not least of which is that I have some faith in the intelligence of Republicans. I do not think that most Republicans are idiots nor do I think they will vote for idiots, I do think that the self-described Tea Party advocates are, without exception, idiots. So first off it is the pollution of the Republican ranks by the Tea Party that will be one thing that brings them down. And right behind that is my faith that those who came out in great numbers just two years ago still remember clearly what a disaster it is for the nation when what passes for the Republican Party now-days controls Government. Its that simple, they are a Party divided and they are bad for the nation. They can lie until their skin turns orange, but they can't hide from it.

2. yep, they're a party divided |
|
. . . between nuts and Obama-haters.
By election day, it's going to take a lot of nerve for any reasonable person to associate themselves with most of the republican party. Our challenge, though, is still to generate enthusiasm for Democrats to turn out. Tea-baggers have the advantage of organizing and herding their following to the polls out of easy persuasions like fear and hate. Our party appeal is much more nuanced around political ideals which may or may not generate the same drive to the polls.

4. the house is a crap shoot but it all depends.... |
|
on the undecided and moderate republicans. if they are afraid of the teabagger candidates or think obama is doing a good job then the house has a chance. the senate will remain democratic if that really means a lot with the 60 majority rule.

5. The Bagger candidates put a lot of pressure on the |

high-info Puke voters, definitely.
It's hard to see a mid-Atlantic seaboard Republican voter getting behind someone like Christine O'Donnell.

6. My theory about the low Democratic Voter turnout in the primaries |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 09:29 AM by life_long_dem
vs. the repub turnout.
Either the Democratic Candidate ran unopossed or the voters were happy with either choice, so they didn't care which Candidate won.
As far as the higher repub turnout, it was baggers vs. repukes and the voters were afraid of who would win, so they came out in higher numbers.
I agree with you that: "those who came out in great numbers just two years ago still remember clearly what a disaster it is for the nation when what passes for the Republican Party now-days controls Government. Its that simple, they are a Party divided and they are bad for the nation."
I have a feeling the Democratic Voters will be out in full force on November 2nd.

9. I think the Repubs are over-estimating Tea Party support... |
|
Judging from the Delaware primary, the Tea Party folks will not vote for a Repub just because he is a Repub. It depends on his voting history. They will pick and choose who they will vote for. They are not automatic. In those races that they sit out, the Democrats will do very well.
