What Speaker Pelosi should say:
We cannot afford the taxcuts for the wealthy any more.
After the elections, we can re-visit the issue. They don't expire until January 1st of next year anyway. What's the rush?
If the Democrats are still in control of the House after the elections, we will vote to extend the middle-class taxcuts for up to $250,000.
If the Republicans take the House, they can extend the taxcuts for the millionaires and run up our deficits even further than they did in the past.
As of right now, they are fucking tabled until after the elections.
The voters know where we stand and they can vote accordingly.
Thank you.

Considering how much I make, the "repeal" of my tax cut won't cost me that much ... Having to pay a few bucks more is more than worth it to deny those fat asses their continued ride on the gravy train. If I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face, so be it.

Let them expire! They are temporary and were meant to expire! Now the rich want to have their cake and eat it too! The greed never stops!
There are massive amounts of people living in the streets! Chaos abounds!
We cannot allow the rich to continue to feed off of the poor!
FUCK THEM and let the tax breaks for the ultra rich EXPIRE as was the initial intention.
:dem: :kick: & recommend.

I hope our Party can deliver on killing these tax breaks.
The projected deficit will immediatly improve which is still another reason the GOP doesn't want it, it will make the "problem" look less than it is.

6. While I agree that they should expire |
|
the Rethugs have one more trick up their sleeves regarding them. They'll find enough surviving DINO's and Blue Dogs to vote for an extension of the whole Bush package, and as Americans see their paychecks whittled down in January, they'll dare the President to veto the package.
We'll find out what he's made of at that time, if he does, then he sets the tone for the next two years. If he signs it, then they've made him their b****.

7. Then the President will say with a stern voice: |
|
As I've said before, I will sign a bill that gives a taxcut to everyone and will extend the taxcuts to everyone under $250,000. Because we can no longer afford the profligacy of taxcuts for millionaires , I am forced to veto this bill. Fix it and I will sign it.
God Bless America!

9. The only chance he has is to do just that |
|
Stand strong, and deal with whatever the Repigs dish out, wait for them to overextend themselves and make asses of themselves. If he triangulates with them like Bill Clinton did, he'll find himself primaried. Clinton didn't have to deal with the Internet in 1995.

10. He could show leadership on this issue right now... |
|
..if he wanted too.
He could tell both Parties what he would and would not accept. If he has said it already, they must not have heard him? Maybe he needs to speak a little louder. "If you send anything to me that extends the taxcuts beyond $250,000, I will veto it"!
He could make it a lot easier on everyone else.
...if he wanted to.
