So now we have Biden and Obama in a one two punch on Dem base
Edited on Tue Sep-28-10 11:06 AM by quinnox
Oh Jesus Christ. I thought these guys would be above this kind of nonsense. This makes both of them look bad, like little bullies wondering why no one appreciates them. Sorry, but you can't bully people into liking you, and the President and Joe Biden ought to know that by now!

This is what is inexcusable - what Biden said - and he should apologize to the Democratic base.

Obama and Biden are lowering themselves in these attacks on the Dem base and it makes all Dems look bad!

26. No Clifford, You've been wishing for that ever since I, a once ardent supporter, realized
how we were being betrayed back in the pre-election days of Obama's FISA vote but go ahead, jump up and down, I'm not leaving and even when you do manage to convince the Admin that I'm a bad, bad Dem, you'll still have to deal with the disappointment of millions like me come election day.

Keep burying your head in the sand. Obama is burying his presidency by relying on smiley bouncers.

22. I am with you!
No apology needed! We "DO" need to get off our butts and vote, not sit around complaining and threatening to stay home and not vote! This is the republican plan folks, get the democrats to stay home! We can complain all we want, no problem there, but when push comes to shove we have to decide on who is going to do the "BEST" job, not a perfect job, of working for the people, and trust me that isn't the republicans!

I am not happy with a lot of things, and I think the democrats should have had a vote on the Bush tax cuts before the election, but I don't plan on NOT voting just because they did something I think was stupid! Sure I think a lot of things need to be done, but I also realize that we have a chance to get more done with democrats in charge than with republicans in charge. If we don't like the way congress has voted on things, then during the primaries we have to put them out of work and put in a new face, but now is not the time to let the Bush years come back. If you think things are bad now, wait till the republicans get in charge again and then see what BAD really is!

There is just to damn much negativity going on around here. I know some of it comes from right wing trolls, but some of it comes from democrats who have lose site of the fact we can't go back to the Bush years, no matter how ticked off you might be at congress or the president. Bush had 8 years to screw things up, give the democrats and Obama at least the same amount of time to fix the mess!

I'll probably still post some comments here, but my activity level is going to be a lot less until November 3. There's lots of work to be done, and lots of Democrats to help get elected.

I heard the interview Lawerence did and heard what Biden said about it. Frankly, he was talking to the ones who want to just gripe and claim they won't vote. He was right that those people need to quit their griping and get into the game. I am a lefty and I am not offended because I am out here fighting to expose the plight of the Banished Veterans, of the need for more attention to the Veterans and the Poor. How we are letting seniors and the homeless get into a worse situation and yet we have too many sitting on the rear ends just griping. How the hell do you change things just sitting back and refusing to do what needs to be done. I have no sympathy for these people and frankly feel they are as much an enemy as the Republicans.

...then I don't think there is much help for you. Being told to buck up and keep fighting is the last thing anyone bearing the title of progressive should be able to take and even welcome. And anyone that thinks that its not inexcusable to be apathetic to the possibilities of a takeover by this Republican party has no business calling themselves a liberal.

Anyone familiar with the story of Don Quixote knows it's a tale of a sad man living a sad life who escapes it all by entering a fantasy world of knight, chivalry and monsters. While he is engaging in these flights of fancy he creates no end of havoc. Worse, no amount of fact or reality can shake him from his delusions. When he tilts at windmills, he believes to be giants, he smacks head first into the unyielding windmill. Instead of being shaken to his senses he immediately declares that a wizard had turned the giants into windmills and vows his revenge. He also has this strong sense of honor that he is constantly attacking others to defend as he hears almost every other word as an personal affront to his honor in some way.

I think that describes those that are supposedly on the left who constantly try to take down the Democrats and the President. They are not happy with the less than perfect real world where politicians have to play politics and compromise and few bills are rarely perfect. Instead of facing the harsh realities of the word and helping make it a better place, they escape into a fantasy world where they are noble knights fighting the evil monsters of corporatism and defending their honor from the imaginary slights of the Obama administration and others.

Like Don Quixote though they are immune to the realities of the real world. The refuse to accept any facts or observations that don't fit into their fantasy world. When the President and Congress create a historic list of impressive progressive accomplishments, they dismiss them as being imperfect or they ignore them and focus only on what hasn't been done yet. Their belief that the President would fail to turn around the economy only made them insist there would be a double dip. Sadly as you can see it's nearly impossible to reason with them and while they enjoy their pleasurable fantasy world of being the noble knights righting all the world's wrongs, they create untold havoc on the real world. The right has certainly noticed it and has no doubt put posers into the cyber world to only encourage their delusions.

We Are The Ones We've Been Waiting For, Hope and Change, (or ".... the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.")

--- When you stop trying to wow the audience, but instead get petulant over their silence, and forlornly start muttering, "Tough crowd; tough crowd -- can I get a little applause here?"

--- you have LOST.

I've never said this, it's a dreadfully annoying cliche, but here goes --
