Rep. Obey to GOP: "You forfeited any right to squawk about how we cleaned up your mess."
...and he added: "Don't blame us for your screw-ups."

:applause:

Kudos to Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, D-Wis. for responding to rethug whining about being shut out while DEMS assembled a spending bill. Knock, knock rethugs - do y'all recall how much hospitality you offered and feedback you requested from DEMS while you were in control on The Hill?

Deal with it! :kick:

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans complained bitterly Wednesday that they had been shut out of the secretive process in which Democrats assembled a huge spending bill to sweep clear a budgetary mess they inherited.

As the House kicked off debate on the bill, Republicans said the measure was being rushed to the floor without adequate time for lawmakers to read it and without the chance to offer changes.

"I cannot recall in the entire time I've been a member of the House a single appropriations bill that has not been open to amendment at some level," said Rep. James Walsh, R-N.Y., a 10-term veteran. "Frankly, I think that's a travesty."

Such protests got little sympathy from Democrats such as Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, D-Wis., who noted Republicans last year had failed to pass nine of 11 spending bills.

25. And be THANKFUL it's not a damn closet in the Congressional basement!
And be AWARE that the only reason it isn't is that,
on a basic level, Dems are better people than you.

3. Good answer
Those republicans have some nerve now to start complaining about bills being rushed to the floor without adequate time to read.

Wait til they have to vote in the middle of the night. That oughta be good for some complaining.

6. I saw that last night. Gawd, were the pukes whining
He gave it to them good, said that the government was only funded until February (not sure which day, I think the 15th) and told them that if they wanted a say, they should have done it a year ago when it was due. Since they chose not to pass the budget last year, past February, they just had to deal with this bill.

8. The Republickers didn't want to work with the committees for the past three weeks...
behind the scenes, and actually get WORK done.

Instead, they wanted to be able to grandstand in front of the cameras and look like they're fighting for something.

Congress is about doing the people's WORK, not about getting face-time in front of the camera.

19. And we DEMS have done more of the "people's
business the first 3 weeks on The Hill then the rethugs did the first 3 years they were in power!

This will REALLY be self evident when we compare notes come next years elections. :)

12. Obey is on fire today.
The Republicans are embarrassing themselves - whine, whine, whine. They barely let Democrats on the house floor for year after year and now they think they're still in control. To the basement with you!
