MoveOn: Russ Feingold could lose in November
Edited on Wed Sep-29-10 01:51 PM by Eric J in MN
Red alert: The latest polls show that Senator Russ Feingold could lose in November. They all him have him down by at least 6 points against a tea party Republican who actually thinks climate change is caused by sunspots. There's a critical fundraising deadline coming up. Can you chip in before the deadline?

Please donate to Russ Feingold.

6. Now is Feingold losing because
he needed to move further to the left or to the center?

8. No he's outspending the GOP
http://www.opensecrets.org/races/summary.php?id=WIS2&cycle=2010 Yet he is still losing.

Plus many Dems like Barbara Boxer are being out spent and they are still winning.

9. Great link for Citizens United.
Some very eye opening $tati$tic$. My contention was that we would not necessarily get hammered in fund raising. I got hammered for saying that. It is still my belief that in many races our Union supporters have more $ to contribute than corporations.

10. That chart doesn't show the results of Citizens United.
That chart shows spending by the candidates: hard-money and self-funding, both of which were allowed before Citizens United.

Citizens United is about outside groups being allowed to use soft-money to directly advocate for-or-against candidates, and those outside groups being able to accept corporate or union money.

11. But doesn't Citizens United have to do with TV advertising?
I don't think that graph covers ads by outside groups, or does it?

12. I think you missed the point of Citizens United
The money you're showing comes from known sources. The money raised from unknown parties is not included
in that figure and we will not now how much was spent or where it came from till at least next year.

16. So does anyone have proof that there is outside advertising in this race
because if there is no proof then it is just an BS excuse.

The American Action Network, a conservative political group founded this year to pour millions into competitive elections, is for the first time going after incumbent Sen. Russ Feingold, a Wisconsin Democrat in an increasingly tight fight for reelection.

24. $380K Are you joking.
Is that the best you have. Feingold spent $10 Million. His opponent spent less than $5 Million. And this outside group spent less than half a million. Someone please show me how Feingold is being outspent and that is the cause of his trailing in the polls.

29. Because Carly Fiorina is a known evil.
The question is why is that race so close? Fiorina is not well liked. She nearly destroyed HP, fired thousands of people, was caught up in a scandal before being ousted herself.

also , Obama's more popular in Wisconsin than Feingold .

31. That's my point. She was ahead when she was seen as the generic Repug.
Edited on Fri Oct-01-10 05:27 AM by girl gone mad
Once people started paying attention and figured out who she was, her numbers dropped.

I can only find a July poll showing Obama's approval in Wisconsin at 49 percent, down from 60 percent last November. That would be roughly equal to Feingold's current popularity (just below 50%).

IOW, they are equally unpopular and Feingold is being punished for what voters perceive to be Democratic failures to bring economic improvement.

36. Who said that?
If you really want to know why Feingold is struggling, take a look at these statistics:

http://www.businessinsider.com/why-the-democrats-are-doomed-2010-10

Liberals consistently warned the White House that their economic policies would result in failure. Too bad they refused to listen. Now Feingold, Frank, Grayson and others may end up paying the price.
