I live in a little red county called Iredell. At one point, not too long ago, we had the highest rate of illiteracy in a state with an already high rate of illiteracy. Frankly, it's a wonder I can even write legibly.
The Children's Home of Iredell County cares for foster kids who have never been placed in a home. When they turn 18, they are simply turned out. They have no support, no help and as you can imagine, many of them fall through the cracks and perpetuate an already tragic problem.
CH of Iredell is looking for votes to help them with a 250,000.00 grant for a transitional living program with the idea that these young adults can get support and assistance in going to college, finding a career, learning to manage a household and with general mentoring.
So if you think wards of the state should pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, with no help from the community or from their fellow man, stop reading now.
However, all you socialists out there know that sometimes we all need a helping hand; a little socialist love.....
