Gov't: Offshore oil drilling ban to be lifted
<snip>

"The Obama administration is lifting the six-month moratorium on deepwater oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico imposed after the BP oil spill, officials said Tuesday.

The Interior Department scheduled a 1 p.m. news conference in which Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is to "discuss the current suspensions on deepwater drilling," the Interior Department said.

The administration has been under heavy pressure from the industry, regional officials, political leaders and businesses to lift the moratorium on grounds it has thrown workers out of their jobs and damaged the economy. A federal report said the moratorium likely caused a temporary loss of 8,000 to 12,000 jobs in the Gulf region.

Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, a Democrat, has blocked a Senate vote to confirm President Barack Obama's choice of Jacob Lew to head the Office of Management and Budget until the moratorium is lifted or significantly eased."

2. It isn't. and it can't be.
They buried the oil on the beaches 6 feet down.
The Corexit, as far as I have found out, cannot be removed from the water.
But not that a large amount of aquatic life has been destroyed, there are less environmental impact statements to be field.
BP will remain hated on the Gulf for generations, if there many more generations.

But hey, that is just what I know, down here.

4. Well, if they promised and it did not happen, sounds like a lie to me.
You tell me. Has the government lied to us much? Has BP lied and covered up anything?

7. Only thing I can find is this:
Lake Charles, La. —

A hiring event is currently being held through Friday, Oct. 15, to recruit qualified Louisiana applicants for oil spill clean-up jobs in the Lake Charles area.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Calcasieu Business and Career Solutions Center, 4250 5th Ave. in Lake Charles.
Positions are available for laborers, safety specialists and foremen/supervisors. Applicants must be Louisiana residents and have 40-hour Hazwoper certification, with TWIC cards and confined space training a plus.

Not much news about BP presence.Except for what Billy Nungesser is saying:

But Nungesser said Monday he's concerned federal officials and oil giant BP PLC are trying to ratchet down the response efforts and equipment available for oil cleanup.

5. Considering the onset of Peak Oil, the moratorium MUST be lifted.
And I'm saying that as one who would just as soon make the moratorium permanent. But, as much as I want it, it's not practical when considering the data on oil production. The chart below is juat a glimpse of the issue we face regarding oil production.
