Do you think those miners are going to get over-time for all that time they were down there? |
|
That's gotta really rack up after awhile.

2. Someone has already given |
|
each of them $10,000 and they are going to be monitored for six months.
I doubt any will go back to mining.
There should be many book deals - and they have decided to share all profits from the experience.

4. Well, they didn't spend anything on meals or transportation |
|
And they weren't doing any billable work......
Oops, my corporate accountant mode just kicked in.

|
They'll make all kinds of buckos and retire early. Lucky stiffs!!!! (But they've earned it.)

6. Technically, they never 'punched out'.... |
|
...so they were still on the clock during the time that they were trapped underground.
In all seriousness, I'm sure they get a book and/or movie deal.

7. No, because the mining company |
|
declared bankruptcy in the first weeks.
But there are bennies,
Manchester United has offered to take them to London for a futbol match.
Real Madrid the same.
They have been offered a cruise in the Greek isles.
A miner who admires Elvis has been offered a trip for two to Graceland.
A Chilean millionaire who lives in the U.S. had donated 10,200 dollars to each miner.

10. I heard a local businessman gave each of them $10K already. |
|
They ought to file a suit against the mining company since there was quite a history of negligence, but I imagine these guys will get help from multiple sources.

11. I got snowed in once for a few days at the auto plant I worked at |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-14-10 08:42 AM by NNN0LHI
We couldn't get home and other employees couldn't make it in to work so management asked us to just stay on the clock and keep working. The first 8 hours was straight time. The next 16 hours were overtime. Then when our regular shift began again the following day we went back to straight time for the first 8 hours because it was our regular shift even though we never punched out.
Thats the way our contract was written.
I never got snowed in again. After that at the first hint of a blizzard and I told management I was going home.
