Every day thousands of children are bullied or cyberbullied in school or online, an issue that affects nearly one-third of youth across the country.
Over the past decade, ADL has become a leader in combating bullying by raising awareness through workshops, programs and advocacy. With our anti-bias initiatives we help students, educators and parents recognize and respond to acts of bullying.
But we need your help.
In the aftermath of several recent tragic teen suicides, we are reminded just how important it is to join forces and combat bullying. We can show young people that they are not alone in their struggle, and provide tools to help the community intervene before more tragedies occur.
Join us in taking a stand against bullying by signing the pledge below.
ADL's Pledge Against Bullying
I pledge from this day forward to do my best to combat bullying in my school or community. I will educate myself about bullying, so that I can learn how to recognize, prevent and intervene against it in all forms. I will speak out against bullying, and reach out to support its targets. I firmly believe that even one person can make a difference.Sign hereFrom email:

A few weeks ago, Tyler Clementi, an 18-year-old Rutgers University freshman jumped from the George Washington Bridge after his roommate and another student secretly videotaped Tyler in a sexual encounter in his room, and streamed it online.
Just weeks before that, 13-year-old Asher Brown shot himself with a handgun after being relentlessly bullied in school.
This past January in Hadley, Massachusetts, 15-year-old Phoebe Prince hung herself after enduring relenless taunting and tormenting from peers.
In the wake of these incidents, ADL took action. In Texas and New Jersey ADL reached out to the community, calling for greater awareness of bullying and Internet safety, and offering its resources to schools. In Massachusetts, ADL renewed its call for the state to pass anti-bullying legislation and, as a result, on May 3, 2010, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick signed a comprehensive anti-bullying bill into law.
In the aftermath of these tragic suicides, we are reminded just how important it is to join forces and combat bullying. We can show young people that they are not alone in their struggle, and provide tools to help the community intervene before more tragedies occur.
