And people wonder why Democrats lose |
|
The LGBTQI controversy.
Pretty much no one is unsupportive of the plight of *people* in that group. In fact, it is probably close to a hard stop total agreement of fundamental support.
So, with that, people are arguing about letters. It isn't my intent to take sides or even offer an opinion. I've done that elsewhere and decided to simply disengage on the issue, leaving up to the people affected directly. Which isn't me.
Being Democrats, being in essential agreement, but being never quite satisfied, we invent things about which to argue.
The solution is to offer your opinion and then leave the decision up to the people with skin in the game. Which, again, isn't me.
And so now, being an impartial observer, I wait as those people with skin in the game settle on a common solution.
I will bet that no matter what it is, it will be openly scorned by some and the whole milieu - ON WHICH WE ALL ESSENTIALLY AGREE - will be fodder for continued discord.
Democrats are really good at that.

1. Stinky, you're assuming the member who posted the flamebait OP is genuinely a Democrat |

There are Freeper trolls on DU whose purpose is to disrupt. They brag about it on other sites.

3. I'm actually basing this thread on many that've read on this topic. |
|
The replies and subthreads were more telling, to me, than the more than a few OPs by various of us. Even if there was a troll OP (I don't know which one that would be) the issue was passionately discussed by many posters who I take to be serious. I take *that* to mean the issue is serious.

. . . at least regarding quite a lot of responses to the current controversy over 'choice'. One example is quibbling over the President's assertion that he 'thinks' homosexuality isn't a choice - as if he was an expert or something on homosexuality (or sexuality in general). I know what I think and agree with, I just don't always know what (or who) to believe.
'WE ALL ESSENTIALLY AGREE'
I would like to think that's a pretty good accomplishment in politics.
