How many Democrats have gone to US soldiers funerals?
I already know that Shrub has yet to attend even one funeral of the one of the people he sent into war on a lie.

And I know that at least some Democrats have attended funerals of constituents that died in Iraq.

But I am trying to find out which ones and the news stories saying so.

I already tried googling but it's either an obscure search or I am not using the right key words.

Basicly I had a freeper claim that no Democrat has ever attended a funeral of a US soldier slain in Iraq and I figure sources are a god way to counter that.

1. Pres. Bush should not attend any funerals. Many members of congress have attended them.

I saw Lindsey Graham and a congress member from Penn. at the funeral for a navy officer from there.

But, there's a reason that presidents have traditionally not attended funerals: by going to one, you give it more value than others so people feel slighted, you force everyone to go through numerous security procedures, you take the focus away from the service member who was killed, you risk a scene -Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt received all sorts of hate mail from parents whose children had been killed in the war- etc. He shouldn't attend funerals. It would be more an intrusion than a courtesy.

Senators and congressmen have attended many of them. That's more appropriate and less distracting.

2. Bernie Sanders has attended the funerals of all servicemen
from Vermont that have died in Iraq & Afghanistan - I recall him discussing this with Thom Hartmann a few months back.

4. I have with The Patriot Guard

My hubby is a Navy Vet and we go when we can. Anyone who says they are for the 'war' should go to at least one and see how they feel afterwards. So tragic especially when so many of the fallen are barely 20. It can really break your heart when you take the time to see the grief. It's something to do to show respect.

On edit: I see you meant FAMOUS Democrats. Ooops.

I know for a fact that Kerry attends them in MA on a regular (unfortunately) basis.

6. Kennedy and Kerry
Most of the Mass group are good about funerals. I honestly don't know about Oregon. Our Dems voted against the war so those who have died might not want them at the funerals.

14. Bull fucking shit. Here's one for you to give him:
"We understand that our democracy depends on them and their families," said Kulongoski, who has attended funerals or memorials for more than 80 servicemen with Oregon ties killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

In any case, it's a statistic that's tough to nail down either way.
