How important is this election ??

I think almost everyone would agree it is very important.

We have no ideal candidates to vote for. We have the Democrat versus the Republican. That is the only choice we have.

We may not like the way the Democratic candidate is campaigning? We may not agree with several of his/her positions? However, we know that the Republican candidate is unacceptable.

What choice do we have?

No one can snap their fingers and make someone enthusiastic about voting. We can only point out the alternative.

I would suggest to the Democrats to turn off the propaganda machines. They love the two-Party system and are doing their best to put Repubs back in power. They want Democrats to believe that Republicans are all fired up and that Democrats are all depressed. That is their narrative and they have beaten it into the brains of Americans for the last two years. You can believe it or not. But that is what is happening. You are being attacked by the media of this country.

Don't give in to the propaganda. Fight back. Vote!

1. Extremely important.
I care not one whit about D's vs. R's as they're both nursing off the same corporate teet. What I do care about this year is Prop. 19. It is literally the line in the sand here, especially after Holder's announcement.

2. Are you expecting overwhelming support from the Repubs?
To help get the Prop 19 passed?

3. Nope.
I wasn't expecting the D's to get behind it either because they're too scared politically (even though Prop. 19 is leading by 11% -- go figure). Maybe you don't understand how important this issue is here. It is literally a line in the sand.

Hmmm . . . torture is perfectly OK but we must prosecute pot smokers. In bygone days that description would have fit only one party.

4. I'll continue to hijack my own thread...

Are there any numbers along party lines about who is for it and who is against it? Or is it more of a libertarian vote?

I agree it is a very important vote.

Also, I think alcohol is a much worse drug than cannabis.

5. I looked it up and
the only thing I could find was this article: http://www.insidebayarea.com/top-stories/ci_15847260

Doesn't really give hard numbers, just some organizations who endorse it, including the California Young Democrats.

Feinstein actually wrote the "against" argument. She also has a Bill that proposes serious penalties on those who make consumables. Boxer has come out against. So has Brown.

Not surprisingly the fundamentalist churches, both major political parties, the alcohol industry and big pharma has come out against.
