Bilo on the view: Something that no one called out Bill for.
Okay I was listening to my wife talking to a friend defending Whoopi and Joy's walk out. My wife felt them walking out was the only way Barbara would have gotten control back and emphasis the point Whoopi and Joy was trying to make because Billo was in full shout down mood. he was determine to have the public see him as right and it seems the time he does that the most and goes into full shout down he is absolutely dead wrong.

my wife also made the comment that she has more respect for Joy and Whoopi because they stayed as long as they did. My wife would have walked out as soon as Billo shouted that he needed to finish and that if Joy would be quiet she would learn something. To my wife it was in such a condescending demeaning way that it spoke volumes (in my wife opinion) to what type of respect (OR LACK OF) Billo has for these women and perhaps all women in general.

If he wants to scream to make sure he 'wins' on his own show that's one thing. To do it as an invited guest is simply unacceptable. They should have also invited him to leave. They should have gone to commercial and returned without him and explained that they had asked him to leave for being so outrageously rude. And then they should have gone on with the show even if it meant they had to fill the time allotted to him by talking about manners in general.

Doing that would have sparked a national debate (and certainly here on DU) about tv etiquette which maybe would have started a trend to shut the freaking screamers down. Screamers like Beck, Malkin, Coulter, limbaugh et al.

It would be nice to have some basic manners again. Let shock tv and radio be marginalized again where it doesn't dominate every discourse.

2. agree with your wife
there is no reason anyone has to sit still for that condescending behavior and listen as if it is acceptable discourse. This is how bullies win and the society becomes even more infected with rude and boorish behavior.

3. I agree with your wife :)
That, to me, was much more infuriating and a bigger reason to smack him up side the head with a shovel.

To go on a set with women hosts and talk down to ANY of them as he did, is reason enough to stop him and call him on it. I would think as well that Joy and Whoopi had that as a *factor* when they finally made a bigger comment by walking out.

I would like to have seen them call him a jerk to his face for his bully behavior and condescending snark AND stay to challenge him on what became the talking point.

But of course the *talking point* of Muslim hating was much more convenient for other media to pick up and run with. Bullying and disrespecting women isn't as *popular* a topic at this political moment.

But yes, your wife had it right!

4. Agree totally... Joy showed more restraint than I could imagine...
having stayed through that condescending, misogynistic show of disrespect. To those who are criticizing Joy and Whoopi having walked off after Billo went on from this episode to an all out display of racism, well, I guess you are the same who would preach to bullied children to just "take it" and it will "blow over. " I appreciate Barbara's traditional manners that would preempt a host from doing so to a guest. But, in her day, guests would never behave in such a cravenly disrespectful and abusive manner.

5. This also would..
have also did it for me "My wife would have walked out as soon as Billo shouted that he needed to finish and that if Joy would be quiet she would learn something."

I don't know if I would have been able to restrain my self or my mouth..

6. That was exactly my thought
as well. I would have walked the moment he said that I would learn something if I listened. He did not listen but he is the almighty man who knows all. I also think he said, maybe not and correct me if i am wrong, but I thought in there somewhere he said "I am right" like there was never a question and that for them to question him was to show their stupidity.

8. Barbara should have jumped in at that point.
The discussion obviously needed a moderator even prior to that. Bill's a condescending jackass, he knows it, his audience knows it and BW absolutely should have known it.

IMHO, that's why Whoopi and Joy walked out. Justifiably.

12. Bill O’Reilly On Joy Behar: ‘She Was Yapping, So I Had To Get Her Attention’
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9324966

Anyone who feels like 'smacking him upside the head with a shovel' wouldn't need to bring his/her own implement--just use the same one Billo's been using to keep digging his hole deeper...

13. I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.
Other than recognizing Whoopi.

If it's about tv, don't tell me. I don't watch for a reason.

15. Just that pesky little drive to make sense out of what I read.

I click on it looking for a clue to the actual content, but don't find anything. I'm left guessing that it might be a tv show, and wondering if "bilo," "billo," and bill are the same person, or 3 different people.

If the thread title clearly indicated a political talk show, I wouldn't click on it.
