What is Pat Buchanan's actual JOB?
What does he do? It seems his only purpose in life is to sit in with any talking head show who'll give him a sandwich and a cup of coffee and tell them what he thinks. And to somehow convince them to invite his sister, Bay (as in "at the moon") along when he's not available. But seriously...what does it say on his business card? Who the fuck is Pat Buchanan, and why the hell does anyone listen to him? Has he ever been right about anything?

Where do I sign up for a gig like that?

3. He's like the farmers at the grain elevators I work at, hanging around
on rainy days in the office near the coffee pot and spouting their Cliff Clavin bullshit--only Pat's wealthier, better educated and has TV cameras pointed at him.

4. Isn't that true of most of them
Them= people who seem to do nothing but air their opinions?

Is there anything more pointless (let alone damaging) than what these "pundits" do? There is something running in my head right now-half remembered-from some book or movie I think about a class of people who neither produce any of the basic needs of society, who are not artists or philantthropists and seem to accomplish nothing that is actually useful. Can't remember what it was but I remember thinking that it described the punditocracy pretty aptly.

8. Just keeping his ugly mug out there in between books about the evil brown hoards invading America..
I understand he's pretty cheap. IIRC, when he told the story about being 'HAD' by Ali G., I think he let slip his 'fee' for the proposed interview......IIRC, $250 dollars.

9. His business card probably says "political analyst".
He's also Editor and owner of "American Conservative" magazine with about 16,000 paid subscriptions I do believe. I don't know if he still has his syndicated column with Creators Syndicate.

I disgree with Buchanan on pretty much everything but the man does actually work for a living.

12. He's a well funded conservative hack. But actually is a
Libertarian. he lists his occupations as "writer/political consultant"

He has some backing form Conservative groups, and they expect their money's worth. Buchanan got to where he is because he knew how to deal w/the right people to get ahead, after all, if no one knows you're there, you can't climb the ladder. Buchanan knows how to rub elbows and give the occasion political salve to those who are beaten. He gets ahead not because of his expertise, but because of who he knows, it's as simple as that.

His sister Bay wouldn't make it as anything other than a xanaxed out housewife somewhere in Utah, except that she, like her brother, knows the "right" people. Today on C-SPAN, she was making hay about Hillary's hairstyles, and how they've changed, (like women don't change their hair when they feel like like it...:eyes:)...However, she looked like she had just rolled out of bed after a serious night of Casino gambling, so she should have kept her squawk-box shut. She hadn't even combed her hair, it was all over the place, as if she was toying w/an electrical socket in the Green Room...:D

Both of them are arrogant ne'er do wells, that have opinions...Just like me, but i don't get the cash...:(

13. He's the fifth horsemen of the apocalypse
Edited on Mon May-21-07 06:00 PM by Xipe Totec

The four horsemen are traditionally named War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death.

Buchanan is the fifth horsemen - Stupidity.

Kind of a fifth wheel, in case one of the other four breaks down.

14. By day, he's an underpaid, non-union janitor at NBC headquarters...
...where he fights the noble class struggle with a floor polisher and a dust pan. He also spends his days storing up resentment and rage at being employed in a position so far beneath his inflated sense of his own capabilities.

Then, when 5:00 rolls around, he drops the dust pan, puts on a threadbare suit and an '80s tie, gets makeup to turn him from an octogenarian toad into the wingnut adonis we all know and esteem, and spends his evenings spewing the venom and hatred he's accumulated during his day as a pissant wage slave.

I know it's unlikely, but it explains so much, including how such a talentless, chronically wrong, vicious, ugly little bastard can manage to pay the rent on his cold water walk-up Bronx tenement.

17. You mean effort and work???
I think it is keeping himself low-key when he speaks. He really wants to rant and rave but has learned he must temper his insanity for the tv.
Other than that - he probably writes on the walls.
