Cenk Uygur Signs as a Contributor at MSNBC

The host of The Young Turks – YouTube sensation Cenk Uygur told us that he is now a paid contributor at MSNBC. He will be on air regularly and fill-in host now as needed. Uygur has been subbing for Dylan Ratigan and Ed Schultz this year. This week he guest hosted the prime time spot for Keith Olbermann. This, of course is really exciting for YouTubers everywhere as one of their own has been given a real job. As we’ve said before, Cenk is the Tila Tequila of political talk shows. The Internet vet him and now he’s on the ol’ teevee.

Uygur tells FBLA, “It’s basically serving as a sixth man coming off the bench whenever any of the shows need me.” As if we understand sports metaphors.

I don;t always agree with him, but having Hardball repeat 1 hr after the first airing, is pretty dumb.

I always switch to BBC newshour when the second Hardball comes on..it;s better anyway

14. Good for CENK...he's worked hard and earned his right to be the "fill in."

I like his audacity and he's a great compliment to the few Liberal Hosts of shows that we have out there, today.

I don't trust MSNBC/GE/COMCAST...but they will do ANYTHING for MONEY...whether it's Left or Right. So far, their ratings say they are gaining RIGHT audiences. When that "fades" they will go to FOX.

It's important to support them...even though many of us don't support General Electric or Comcast in the Take Over. It's just about BUSINESS...and EYEBALLS to the site. They would put on a "Laughing F**ing Hyena" if it brought them ratings. So far MSNBC is gaining viewers and CNBC and FOX are Losing.

But, it's a losing audience for all as many of us cut our Cable and go to the NET for News and Commentary.

maybe, MSNBC encourages some of their hosts to be more brash, like Faux. Ed eg, when he was on the radio, I liked him as he was calmer. I hope they get over trying to imitate the worst possible kind of talk show hosts and the let the hosts be themselves.

Cenk's been appearing more and more as a guest host. For Lawrence O'Donnell, subbing was a prelude to getting an hour of his own, and hopefully Cenk follows a similar trajectory. Why not give him the 5pm slot in due course? Then Ed at 6, Tweety at 7, and so on, then repeat starting with Cenk at 11pm.
