Joe Miller - The Hits Just Keep On Coming
Alaskan Senate hopeful and semi-bearded teabagger Joe Miller literally ran away from a question about his disabled-veteran status during last night’s “Meet and Greet” session in Anchorage. In a roomful of 50 people — most supporters and well wishers — Miller was asked what to identify his service-connected disability and his official “percentage disabled.” Panic swept over Miller’s sweaty face.

Looking away from your correspondent, Miller yelped to no one in particular, “We’ve gotta go!” He then pointed to his wife and said, “Let’s move!” The Millers hustled to the back of the vacant strip mall office next to the pizza place and surrounded themselves with campaign staffers...

1. No fair! That's a personal question about his past.
Joe Miller has already stated that he's not answering those types of questions. :sarcasm:

Mind blowing!

7. Politicians using the military to physically restrain the press is so third world dictatorship, no?
Not to mention, it is illegal in this country for active military to participate in partisan campaigning - but that point is way secondary to the first.

I could go on and on and on about all the ways this is shocking and anti-Democratic and anti-American and Kent State like, etc.

but wow, I'm still flabbergasted by it.

Sounds like the thugs are going to (correctly) get in deep shit with their command.

13. Yes, it is stomach turning. Do you know if active military can have a second job, like
a part-time security guard for example? Would that be legal? I know these guys restricted freedom of another dude with handcuffs, and it feels to me like there is a crime in there somewhere (even if they weren't military).

15. They can so long as they let their supervisors know....
and they get permission to work a second job. But, they are always subject to recall.

17. OK, makes sense. I am guessing they did not have permission to walk around
restraining people... I hope they are shitting bricks.

21. It is not that
they could work for oh Elite here in San Diego, many do, during Comic Con.

Comic Con is not a political event. This was.

As a service member you really cannot get involved with a political campaign in any way, shape or form, Even giving money can be slightly on the edge. You are encouraged to vote and do it in an informed way. But beyond that, you really should not.

You can attend a rally in civilian clothes, off time, but not work for it.

Article 15, is a mast hearing, where they can face administrative punishment. Art 32, is a general court martial hearing. They violated the UCMJ by working a political campaign. Those troops should have told their company supervisors, no, I cannot work a political event, period.

11. Perhaps his service-related disability isn't categorized as physical?
Fortunately for Mr. Miller, the electorate of Alaska has no right to find out if a crazy person is running for one of their Senate seats.

pretend chickenhawk who never, ever wore a uniform.

If he is actually getting disability and he never served, that is fraud.
