The best line from last night's Daily Show...IMO
President Obama said to Jon.."Let me tell you about members of Congress" and Jon being the quick wit he is said "Are you going to curse?"
I laughed at that one... It was a fun show to watch, with two very intelligent people bantering back and forth and yet valuable information was given..

1. Something I loved...
In my opinion, the President did an excellent job of expressing his own frustration with the mindless opposition and the naysayers in his own base, while being totally classy about it. I admit I get REALLY offended at the "weak president" line of dialog (that started with the right wing especially Fox and that repulsive Palin "person") and now gets repeated ad nauseum wall-to-wall.

And yes, I am perfectly prepared for 50 replies on how Obama is the worst president ever, so let it fly. I've gotten used to that no matter where I go, and there's nothing I can do about it. So have fun, I guess.

3. He's not the worse President ever
but neither are the naysayers and opposition from his own base "mindless"

Talk about "classy"...

9. Not how I read that comment...
I read it as two groups 1) mindless opposition and 2) naysayers in the base, not mindless naysayers. Perhaps the poster meant it the way you read it, but it isn't written that way.

17. OK I can see your point.
If that's the way the OP meant it, I apologize for getting it wrong.

(Limited bandwidth at home.)

After seeing Obama "in person" at the Univ. Wash. campus rally for Patty Murray last week, it confirmed my sense of him as a man full of humility, and energized / authentic in his sincerity about his progressive agenda. Man - he has to repeat himself ad infinitum; if we just LISTEN to him, we can hear the consistency with which he adheres to progressive values. Then there's the POLITICS he has to deal with. As he said in his call to bloggers yesterday, he's president, not king. What kind of a genius doesn't get this???

And believe me, I've had my share of criticism of him on his lack of agressiveness about, for example, the public option. I still maintain he could have gone to the mat for this, without jeopardizing final legislation. I say this as someone who is struggling with finding a decent individual health insurance policy for my daughter and self - no employer-paid insurance -- plus laid off / unemployed for a year! I have to believe Obama when he says -- as he did at the rally -- that he learned something from the lack of grownup participation by the republicans in congress over the last 2 years. I have to hope and expect he will do it differently from this point forward.

16. I was kind of hoping Stewart would really stick it too him..
..and ask him about the Afghan war, Guantanamo, and wiki-leaks but i guess that was wishful thinking.

I really liked when Obama addressed the legislative process with the 60 votes and filibuster etc.. That was really good. Also really like him finally addressing some of the other things like how healthcare was kind of more like a band-aid than the 'real change' we all voted for. I just hope he keeps moving the progressive agenda forward, even if its only a little at a time.
