10. I'm not sure it was a routine
He threw a hardball (one that's been thrown a lot right here at DU), Meek knocked that sucker out of the park, and KO didn't question his answer further. I think Meek got a chance to strut his stuff there, because to me he came off very impressive.

15. Asking him how he would feel when Rubio is elected was beneath him and Meek.
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 10:03 PM by Billy Burnett
If Crist hadn't the support thrown his way by "Dems" then Meek would be ahead.

Why isn't KO questioning that?

4. Nader didn't give up on Nader in 2000 and neither did many supporters
People have the right to decide whether they want to elect a hard core conservative or if they think Meek like Nader in 2000 can win

5. It only took four posts for that false notion to come foward. I think that's a record.

Of course, Gore wasn't a Republican who had sour grapes after he got primaried, either.

How soon we forget, the THEFT of the 2000 election....

9. One of the recirculating themes at DU that pisses me off more than
anything else is "Nader cost us the 2000 Election!!!1!1!"

I love how everyone conveniently forgets the roles played by the Republican Party, Fox News (Bush's cousin calling the election for him), Jeb Bush & Katherine Harris in Florida, and THE SUPREME FUCKING COURT!!!

:argh: :argh: :argh:

16. Crist did not even stick with it long enough to get primaried
Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 10:09 PM by csziggy
He bailed out BEFORE the primary and signed up as an Independent. The more I think about it, this feels like a Rove ploy - divide and conquer. And the real pisser is that it is WORKING. Too many people were/are willing to give up on the only real DEMOCRATIC candidate in the race and vote for a dyed in the wool Republican. Fuck that and FUCK them.

ETA: I voted for Meek on Wednesday.

7. I'm sick to death of people who are outraged that Meek won't
throw himself on his sword. He is the legitimate Democratic candidate!!! If anyone could have saved this state and the country from Rubio, it was Crist, accepting the results of the primary. He doesn't have half the integrity as Meek and it's his fault we're in this mess--not Meek's.

6. I generally give up on lost causes
there is no way he wins, unless the other two candidates are revealed to be long-term soviet moles who's programming activates tomorrow resulting in the two of them swimming to Cuba.

8. The only thing is this:
I'm all for Meek staying his course but I'm slightly torn because Crist says he will caucus with the Dems. This one is a tough call and comes down to strategy, but in the end, if the roles were reversed, I would probably think its a sneaky effed up thing for a repub to do, so I'm all for Meek staying in regardless. Its just that the alternative Rubio = despair and stagnation, the opposite of hope and change.

Edited on Fri Oct-29-10 09:31 PM by givemebackmycountry
I used to watch them on CSPAN.
Meeks and Debbie Wasserman Shultz were two of them and they pounded away night after night on the Monkey.

Fuck it, I'm voting for Meeks come Tuesday.

edit - spelling

21. It's done then. Enjoy Rubio in the senate for the next six years.
This isn't a game of "shoulds." Way-behind #3's don't win by #2 dropping out.

That does provide a lesson for fixing our electoral mechanics. But under the current rules, Meek's decision guarantees a Rubio victory.

:hippie:
