We do not like "them" because they are not like "us"...
WE AND THEY

They do crazy shit and we are always sane and rational.

They want "us" to believe that "they" are just like us.

We are so much smarter than they. They are a bunch of dumbasses.

Sometimes "we" just want to tell "them" to get a clue.

But...

:-)

1. Us, us, us and them, them, them, them. . .
And after all were only ordinary men.
Me, me, me, and you, you, you
God only knows it's not what we would choose to do.

Black, black, black and blue, blue, blue
And who knows which is which and who is who.
Up, up, up and down, down, down.
But in the end it's only round and round.
Haven't you heard it's a battle of words?
The poster bearer cried.

Down, down, down and out, out, out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about.
With, with, with, without, out, out.
And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about?

Out of the way, it's a busy day
I've got things on my mind.
For want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died.

2. I have met them, and they are us.
If you actualy believe that Obama is a Democrat
who is gonna put this country back upon the right path,
then you are just as delusional as the folks
who think that Dubya was a true Merkin patriot
who put it on the right path 10 years ago.

4. There's a difference between WE and THEY
THEY demonize whole groups of people (racial/ethnic/religious groups and Liberals); only some of WE demonize all Republicans.

For the most part, WE focus on issues and and objectionable positions taken by THEY (anti-civil rights generally, pro-unjustified war, anti-social justice generally). THEY tend to focus on identity politics, demonizing anyone for BEING Liberal/Progressive because that automatically makes us commie socilist fascists who hate America and want the terrorists to win. (And, apparently, we also hate Christmas because we wish happy holidays for all. *GASP*)

Here on DU alone you can find plenty of anecdotal examples to support your premise. Still, as a broader generalization, it's a false equivalence. It's a good discussion topic--but one that, I hope, will reveal the differences in perspective and approach between WE and THEY.

5. Being sane is not always the smartest move, insanity is part of the tool box.

However you have to maintain a sound mind, and not let it distort your views.

Here is the thing, you can know if someone is smarter then you, but you can never know if they are dumber then you. Since they could be acting dumb at a level above your smarts. and you just don't see it.

So it is logically impossible to think anyone is crazier, or not as smart as you are. You can say they act that way, but you can't say they are that way.

Hence why I said the comment, "people are stupid", was an error and a bias. Since it can be proven that can never be said, only assumed. Although I don't believe everything I read.

But this is a great song, weather smart or dumb, so does it really matter?
