A Democrat runs against Two Republicans..
Yeah, Florida. The land of Bob Graham, and Lawton Chiles. Used to be a pretty smart state. Recently they've elected Jeb Bush and C. Crist. Voting machines, or just plain bad luck or what?

Anyway...

The Democrat, Meek, won his primary against a 50+ million dollar opponent.

Crist never ran in a primary. He saw he was going to lose the repub primary so he went on his own with, you should know, about 7 million republican dollars.

Crist would have to take all the Democratic votes to win.
Had Crist been honorable at all, he wouldn't have even run.

Then we'd have a good race between the teabagger and a good, liberal, anti-war, Kendrick Meek.

And Meek would have beat the shit out of the teabagger.

So.... to all those supporting Crist, hear this: Get smart. Get rid of the republicans and quit even thinking about supporting those idiots who have been robbing you blind.

2. Crist dropout?
Him staying in helps defeat Meek.

And makes sure republicans get the seat.

3. I don't know the dynamics in Florida anymore
I lived in Miami during Bob Graham & Lawton Chiles. Very shortly after Jeb took office, my health care position was privatized, as were many others. I left Florida not long after that.

I don't know Crist or Meek, but I have been impressed with what Meek has had to say both during the debate & on Olbermann tonight.

Lieberman, Murkowski & Crist lost their primaries and went on to run independently. To me, they are opportunists, but that's basically what a politician is. What I said about Lieberman back when: You lost. The 'people' fired you. Why do you feel entitled to the Senate seat?

In my own state, I'm frustrated as to why our state leadership hasn't worked harder for our Democratic candidate. Or why there isn't added help in up-seating my Repug Congressman.

Maybe things would be different if Dr. Dean was still heading the DNC. I surely do miss him.
:argh:

4. Party is in deep trouble
I know many good dems who have given up. And from the responses here on this issue, I am beginning to see that wisdom. Why struggle when good dems are turned on, and politicians like Crist get a free ride, even here?

Pubbie success, or flat out dem fail? Both it seems.

Have a nice weekend.

6. Someone wants to purge the party of progressive democrats.
Good post. Maybe the real progressives in the party will split off and become the real Democratic Party. They are the ones working for us. If the party continues to move even further to the right, there will be no point in THEM or those of us who are not Republicans or Reagan Democrats or whatever, in staying. I don't like Republican ideas which is why I am not a Republican. But over the past four years or so, I have seen nothing but lame excuses every time this party votes for Republican ideas and none of them are acceptable.

It's not just DU that is split, it is the Party itself. They hypocrisy of supporting a Republican over a Democrat, while castigating anyone who dares to criticize the policies of the party, is simply stunning.

I hope Crist will be urged to get out of the race, or that Democrats who have been supporting him will stop listening to the Party leadership and vote for the Democrat.

The country is so divided and so wishy washy, I fear for it's future.
