I spent large parts of my life in Tennessee, also in the rural areas that are Republican strongholds. And my experience is that even the most hardcore nazi wingers down there are potheads (And that is to say the least. They are also moonshiners, pill poppers or meth heads). Yes, there are organizations in the US that are anti pot. But this is a plebiscite. Lobbyists cannot buy this. And to many people who are on the hard right, pot is an issue that is very seperate from other things in politics. And California is way more liberal then Tennessee.

and I don't really understand why anyone would think that any laws would really change. States rights aside, federal law still trumps. I really do believe that marijuana shoulkd be legalized like alchohol. I dissaprove of underage consumption of alchohol and I would maintain that attitude regarding marijuana use but the enforcement of anti-marijuana laws is a huge waste of resources IMO.
