Screw it. Let's sell the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
Sure, it was a great idea when it was established in the 1950s but that was when we had more money than we could spend.

Now we've got debts no honest man can pay.

So how much sense does it make to hold onto it? Do you know how much Developers would pay to get their hands on the best beaches on the East Coast? They'll be there faster than the Mafia when they found out Batista was putting Cuba up for sale.

Besides, thanks to global warming, those "islands" will be shoals in a few years. Ever try to build a hotel on a shoal? Might as well get something for it while we can.

And another thing: Why are we spending billions dredging the Oregon Inlet for something that's only enjoyed by crusty old fishermen and a few bird watchers?
