Well Tonights Trick or Treaters and the Fun I Had
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 12:42 AM by rsmith6621

...Tonight my wife and I had about 25 T&Ters...... about the eighth door knocker the neighborhood republican mom stopped by with her 10 year old daughter and I was the one to answer the door.....The girl was dressed up as new age Witch with a long black haired wig on... So I told my wife to come and take a look at her, about half way to the door I said I think its a Christine O'Donell trick or treater...her mother first laughed until she figured out what I was saying then got smirky on me, my wife stood and told the girl what a delightful costume she had on as I made my way to the kitchen.....when I returned I put a variety of candy bars and skittles in her bag and wished her luck for lots of candy then I handed her mother a Lipton Tea bag and said "here you go something to sip on Tuesday night to watch many of those politicians you voted for go down the drain"

Guess what....she and her daughter went down the sidewalk quick....I found the bag half way down the sidewalk.....Oh well it was fun.

2. Why don't you just poll people at the door
and only give candy out to the children of good Dems?

Personally, I think it was a douche move, but I'm sure you'll find the applause you seek here.

10. Lots people here think *ANY* effort to actually confront the enemy is "a douche move".
That's *ONE* of the reasons why the Right walks all over
us constantly; they know people like you will *NEVER* call
them on their shit.

19. You understand the difference between, say, a town hall meeting and a 10 year old on a holiday
Right?

Right?

21. Apparently not
I think it's a douche move to screw with a kids' holiday in front of a kid. Wonder what the OP is going to do at Christmas "to make a statement."

When kids or family are involved, our shared humanity trumps partisan politics -- but that's just me.

It would be nice if we could leave the oneupsmanship of politics out of some things. Especially when it involves kids.

12. This Gets Old
When will we in this country grow up and quit playing the games with each other? Why must people stoop to this level, especially in the presence of our children? While we are playing these games and fighting with each other, the republicans are going to walk away with this election and hopefully the hard work President Obama and congress have done to this point will not be swept away by the low tax, no welfare crowd. I worry that we have just swept our way out of any sort of power for a good long time and that scares the living heck out of me.

What are we doing, people? We need to deal with the ISSUES affecting the people of this country and quit trying to make the other party look stupid because they do that well enough on their own if we allow them to.

Hopefully that 10-year-old girl who just came to your door for some trick or treating fun will forget the ugliness you displayed to her mother.

My subject line not only refers to my agreeing with your post, it also refers to the republican growth factor the original OP "fertilized" into a flowering voter!

It is another shinning example of the fridge element within our party are our worst enemy!

13. I don't understand why every aspect of life must be politicized.
I don't understand why there was the need to humiliate and score political points with the mother of a girl who was just there for trick-or-treat. It's tough enough being a kid in this day and age and at least her mother was concerned enough for her safety to accompany her daughter last night.

A particularly great touch of class, particularly since the adults knew each other's political leanings, would have been to make that girl feel special about having visited your house and that would let her mother know that this is how Democrats treat people, especially children.

26. Exactly.
Assuming this actually happened this person has made Democrats look like nasty little pissants who can't let politics go long enough to ohh and ahh over a kid's costume and dump some Hershey's in a plastic pumpkin.

14. I didn't have a single trick-or-treater
When the doorbell rang, it was only my apartment manager, looking for an early rent check because she'll be tied up in an activity with her daughter all day tomorrow,

Kind of a bummer--except that I get to eat all the candy I got (and I always get the ones I like).

Too bad those kids never came by.

17. More harm than good......
Thanks for "creating" a lifelong republican voter (10 year old daughter).

In your zest for confrontation you created a memory in that little girl that will probably resonate throughout her adult life in the way she votes. hint: it wont be for the Democrat candidate

Thanks, but no thanks for your help!

20. One of our former neighbors used her 3-year-old to attempt a confrontation
on Halloween a few years ago. The memory still makes me flinch. (We opened the door, held out the candy, and the little girl looked up at me and said, "Why do you hate my mommy?" This was after a heated political discussion post-September 11th. We didn't start it, but we walked out of their house when the husband said to us, "People like you should be shot." In other words, it's okay for Republicans to bully, but it's not okay for Democrats to refuse further contact.)

There is no good that can come from starting or furthering a political argument on Halloween. If you don't want to entertain the child of someone that doesn't share your political beliefs, shut off the lights and don't answer the door. The kids don't understand. Please don't put them in the position.

Seriously, come on. Halloween is for the kids.

Part of being an adult is in fact acting like an adult (especially in front of kids). You gained nothing with this silly stunt.

Not every goddamned moment needs to be made political.

Assuming your post isn't just a bullshit fantasy, of course -- which I suspect it is.

31. Excellent. We need to ruin *more* holidays for the children of Republicans.
This kind of ingenious strategy is just what we need to win more Americans over to the Democratic party. I wish you were advising Obama.
