I think Obama should have clarified his comments a little:

I think most people don't know who there enemies are, and most enemies try to get people to attack friends, another reason to love your enemy, since it might be that having enemies is the enemy.

I am not sure what an enemy is, but I think there are some people that need help to think about what their actions cause. That would not make them enemies, but someone you could help learn if you are correct, or learn from if they can teach why your position is wrong.

Hence why concepts of conversation and reason with faith really makes alot of sense, since if a faith is correct, it should be able to be reasonably defended.
