and folks, the staff told us that they had a big rush in the morning. We go between rushes... they expect a second one by lunch...
Other years we have been told at ten thirty or so... nope, you're amongst the first to show...
I'd say that is a good sign...
Oh and GO Jerry, GO Boxer!!!!
(I stand by what I said... it will not be as bad as the polls make it to be, for highly technical reasons... aka the polls and WHO they usually poll.

9. I've decided not to watch any coverage at all today. None. |
|
It'll just piss me off and that's wasted energy as far as I'm concerned. The results will be what they will be, whether I'm full of angst or blissfully unaware.
I'll be on DU, of course. But tonight I'm thinking of having a silly night of watching "That 70s Show" episodes and when I'm tired of that I'll watch "Arrested Development" episodes.
Or maybe some Neil Young and Led Zeppelin DVDs. Or maybe replay last night's World Series game. I kinda have a crush on Tim Lincecum.

4. Very high turnout here |
|
Our district is strongly Dem but turnout is usually low unless it is a presidential election.
We always vote at the same time in the morning, on the way to work. We are usually around the 20th to 40th to vote, and rarely have to wait. Today we stood in line and nearly 200 people got there ahead of us.

6. Louisa County, VA Mineral District 12:30 no lines just voters |
|
in and out quickly. One office (House) four choices Rethug, Dem, Tea and Green. I voted Dem, and yes to three state wide referendums about property taxes and yes to one local referendum to allow hard liqueur to be sold in Mineral restaurants by the drink. I voted against my own economic self interest on the tax issues as the tax breaks pertain to vets with service created disabilities or widowed spouse of same, citizens over 65 (hopefully I'll get there) and disabled citizens, so if we give them tax breaks I guess the rest of us will have to pay slightly more, but it was the right thing for a progressive to do, and I was happy to vote for the tax break. We have crappy little restaurants in Mineral and they need any and all help they can get, but I don't drink so it really has no immediate impact on me, better or more restaurants in the future, maybe.
Unless enough really stupid rethugs vote tea party to give Waugh(D) a chance against "congressman for life" Cantor(R) it was your basic useless trip to the polls in central VA.

8. My polling place in Laguna Niguel had a fairly high turnout this am. |
|
I always go at 7am. I walked right in for the primary vote. Today, there was a line that was as long as the line in 2008.
This being conservative OC, I was a bit worried..until I saw all the Obama bumper stickers on the cars in the parking lot.

12. I expect heavy turnout due to a recall initiative on the ballot. |
|
Our school district board (Capistrano USD) has been infiltrated with anti-public school RW demagogues. Three of them are up for a recall vote. There is heavy community support to get rid of these jerks and replace them with pro-public ed types, and I think that alone will drive a heavy turnout at the polls.
