Pat Pukchanan: Obama is more like Adlai Stevenson than Harry S. Truman - WTF |

Something doesn't make sense with that comparison.

7. Screaming makes his point more correct. |

If he just said it in a normal voice, it would become less correct.

2. Seeing as Adlai Stevenson was two time loser, there is nothing to compare |
|
Adlai didn't get to be President, so how can a sitting President be compared to him? Dumb indeed.

16. Adlai Stevenson was a well loved, well respected Governor of Illinois. |
|
But he was up against a world-famous war hero and extremely competent commander who had a beatific smile and a self-effacing manner. Every American soldier stationed in the ETO loved Ike. And that meant every soldier's family members loved Ike, too. Eisenhower was apolitical, and the Republicans were incredibly lucky that they could convince him to run. It's really hard to figure how well other Republican figures would have done against Stevenson. (Robert Taft!?) Yes, thank goodness Ike was reasonable. But it's a shame that he allowed the Repukes to tie Nixon, with all his commie conspiracy baggage, to his tail.

6. Stevenson was the cerebral, professorial type. |
|
Truman was the scrappy type.
My guess is that this is what he's talking about.

Unfortunately, all the smarts in the world won't win anyone an election. Especially these days... I'm still rather shocked that Obama won.

10. So remind me again, Pat, what was Stevenson's presidential record? |
|
Oh, right... THERE IS NO RECORD!
This guy is getting more delusional as the days pass.

11. Stevenson was known for his intellect. |

My father often lamented that the general public rejected him because he was a scholar.

I liked Adlai...every time I have his name in a crossword puzzle it makes me smile...
But you're right about the comparison...I think he was meaning that Adlai was wimpy because he had a conscience, compassion and real morals...
