Question about optical ballot scanning machines |
|
When I turned in my paper ballots today the scanning machine kept jamming. So the volunteer said "just turn it upside down". That didn't work, so she fed on of them into the machine upside down and backwards, and I told her that made me uncomfortable; that I wasn't sure if it was really being counted. She assured me that it was OK and second was fed in right side up. Do these machines REALLY read the ballots no matter which way they're oriented?

1. I don't know about your particular machine, but where I vote it doesn't matter. EOM. |

2. Yes, they read the ballot no matter which way it's fed-in. |
|
For your privacy, it's routinely fed face-down, but it need not be.
