Former DE US Representative Mike Castle (R) blames O'Donnell for Democrats big wins in state
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=131076757

Although Return Day is supposed to let candidates and politicians to put any harsh feelings aside, O'Donnell's upset victory over longtime congressman and former governor Mike Castle in the GOP primary left a lingering impact on the state Republican Party.

Besides O'Donnell and Urquhart, GOP candidates for state treasurer and several legislative seats were defeated as well.

"The Republican party took a real shellacking in this election in Delaware," Castle told The Associated Press.

During the primary, state GOP chairman Tom Ross leveled sharp words against O'Donnell, saying she couldn't be elected "dogcatcher." Castle said he doesn't blame Ross for the GOP losses.

"I think that responsibility lies particularly with the candidate for the Senate, the Republican candidate for Senate, who stirred the emotions of the Democrats to come out and to vote, and it ran down the ticket," Castle said.

You have to realize, democrats won big across the board on Tuesday. My co-worker was telling me about how his long-time serving republican state representative bit the toast on Tuesday. And seriously, it was the Tea Party that did in the republicans here in Delaware.

3. For a republican, Mike Castle is one of the good guys
He would have probably beat Chris Coons by 15-20pts. Don't get me wrong, Coons is a great guy and I would have fought hard for him. But no one in the democratic party wanted to go up against Castle and Coons figured this race would be good exposure for future statewide races. Who would have thought our county commissioner here in New Castle is now our next US Senator.

You should have heard his victory speech, I have reason to believe this guy is not going to sit back and be a pushover. We need new progressive leadership in the senate especially since Russ is gone.

5. And in other news, water is wet.
That one's a no-brainer, but I'm surprised to hear him admit it. One of msnbc's commentators said election night that tea partiers won only in districts/states where conservatives are strong anyway. They couldn't flip elections.

10. I wasn't suprised about that R-win
I was canvassing every weekend and we had lit from Chip Flowers in our packet but we didn't get Richard Korn's until that Tuesday.

His lit was really good but I think if we got the lit out earlier in Wilmington we could have made up that difference.
