If Corporations can now make campaign contributions |

1. If you're thinking of corporate direct or shadow |

advertising for political candidates, that is not covered by campaign laws. The Citizens United ruling said that anybody, be they corporation, union, or individual can directly advertise for the benefit of their favored candidate. This was a freedom of speech ruling. There are no limits to the spending. Now, there are still rules about contributions to a politician's campaign or directly to a political party, but that is a different thing altogether.

But why is Freedom of Speech (spelled $$$) limited for campaign contributions, and not for advertising? It is either all Freedom of Speech, or it isn't.
Shouldn't the limits on direct contributions also be reflected in the amounts an "individual" is permitted to spend on other forms of political spending?
