Are we going to lick our wounds or are we going to get together
I think we need to realize some stuff and do what it takes to avoid a Republican takeover of all of our government. We can continue to gripe because we didn't get enough progressive and lose what we did get, or we can work together to build off it. We can acknowledge our successes without being satisfied, we can learn to be constructive in our critism and not destructive. We can take our blame where we should and not be so defensive that we made mistakes. We need to be that reality based community we were when Bush was in office but honestly we haven't been the last 2 years. We need to learn pragmatism isn't selling out principles but realizing it is working toward those principles. We got to be smarter than the right and that means we have to show we have something to be inspired by. That we did make things better the last 2 years and now we are going to slow that down with this group of right wingers that was elected which means we can expect slow progressive. We can continue to discourage our own or we can be constructive. By the way I know the Republicans aren't going to give us progress to any degree and the Democrats are our best chance so if we really want any progress we better back our own and use tact in our critism.

If you don't like this message that is your decision but I am trying to be honest and hope we can come together and not allow a Republican takeover aided by us. So rec or unrec at your pleasure because it doesn't change the results of what we saw, and if we can't get together to fight our enemy we will take another beating in 12. There is the reality of it folks.

3. first we inflict more wounds

then we add sodium to the wounds to make sure that we have really felt the real pain.

Licking will start in about 6 months.

As for that get together stuff that is atleast a year away and it only comes when a real palatable fear has engulfed every corner of the Democratic Party. The possibility of President Palin, the possiblity of ending Social Security, the possibility of handing our armed forces to another Republican warmonger will bring all of us together into a Spartan phalanx. For now its more knifing and more salt.

the losses of multiple anti-war/pro-vet Democrats tells me one thing...people don't give a shit.Until WE remain cohesive, remain focused, and drop the bullshit...we will see this repeat itself.

:hi:

I think we're still steamed. And right now much of it is going to the whistle and not the wheels.

6. We've been too nice
It is time for guerrilla tactics.

Our enemy is a vast RW media that has tons of money, much like the british army did @ 1776.

And how did we beat them?

We can't go head to head. Their Achilles heel is... where?

9.  Their Achilles heel is that
They are just to stupid, disorganized and divided to mount an effective campaign. We have to play on the divisive bickering that goes on in the reich wing fever swamp.

Face it, with the likes of Palin, Bachman and the others they don't stand a chance. They'll be eating their own any minute now. All we need do is to stand by and watch our enemies self destruct.

11. Don't count on the infighting with the repukes
They have the money, they have the media, they have the intimidation skills and they have Karl Rove who we thought was gone but remains strong. They know how to handle those who disagree with them. They already know what they are going to do with the Tea Party people. They will embrace them and pay them to be quiet.

10. here it is
Look they won by 5 million votes combined. We had 29 million that DID NOT vote. So if we could have got 6 million out of 29 million to have voted we would have won. So they aren't as strong as you are making it sound. What we have to do is get our people into the polls and maybe, just maybe, if we can sell our accomplishments while offering constructive critism, we will kick these right wingers out. Divided we make sure they have a chance. In coaching we call it letting a lesser talented team hang around and giving them a chance to win.

13. We can't underestimate them
The reality is that despite being against the people, they motivated enough people to go vote against the people.

We failed to motivate our people. And, methinks, it is because we are too nice and not willing to cut them back as they slice us into ribbons.

I am reminded, again, of an old political saying: The liberals are the first to leave the room when a fight breaks out.

You can call me a liar, but my experience is that cutting them back when they try to cut me has been very successful.
