I like Nancy Pelosi. I do not see any political position Nancy Pelosi has that is extreme or out of the mainstream of the Democratic Party. However, I think the Democrats should have a leader that is less controversial.

I do not want a Conservative Democrat to be the leader as this is not reflective of most members in the Democratic Caucus. The Democrats need someone who can communicate with the American People and Nancy Pelosi has not been doing this to the extent she should have.

I think Lloyd Doggett would be a good choice. He isn't controversial like Nancy Pelosi but also he isn't a Blue Dog Democrat.

I know he is from Austin which they might use against him, but I do not think that's like being from San Francisco politically speaking.

1. What makes Pelosi "controversial?"
I seriously have never understood that. She's not that much of an outspoken person and I never thought she did a great job of publically defending "the cause."

The only thing I think drives this Pelosi hatred is mysoginy and I'm not kidding about that.

I do think someone else should move into a leadership position.

3. We should choose our leaders based on our own preferences.
Their popularity with the opposition should have nothing to do with it.

I get what you're saying but a conciliatory approach just hasn't been working for us.

8. This is a question that only someone who doesn't know Lloyd Doggett could ask.
When he was young he looked like Abe Lincoln.

10. Nonsense.
More progressives live in Houston, which has a gay mayor, than live in Austin.

Lloyd Doggett is a true progressive and would be a great Speaker.

He's a former state senator, former Supreme Court justice, and long time congressman.

11. Every one of our major cities is BLUE, and they all voted against Perry.
Houston (the nation's 4th largest city), Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, AND West Texas are all BLUE and voted for the Democrat Bill White.

It is our rural areas that kill us.

So, our big cities here have it right, but because of Tom DeLay's gerrymandering, we get killed by the shitkickers where nobody lives.

But, thanks for your support.

And, oh, by the way, Lloyd Doggett is about the most progressive congressperson you will meet ANYWHERE, in ANY STATE. He's a hero, and he fights.
