MSNBC Firing Keith is Small Potatoes in the damage of Mega Mergers |
|
Don't say we haven't been warned.
Whether or not the firing of KO is a direct consequence of the upcoming takeover of NBC/Universal -- which is already way too big -- by Comcast -- which is already way too big -- it is an illustration of the dangers of Media Concentration.
There is no doubt that MSNBC is going to by put on a very short leash from now on, and the leash is likely to be yanked soon in favor of a reinvention as Fox 2 or as a reality-show network.
When one gigantic media conglomerate swallows up another, it further puts us at the mercy of a frighteningly small number of corporate overlords.
As a nation, we could do something about this. But we don't. And we'll pay the price.

2. Well, that's MSNBC's story and they are sticking to it. |

I suspect this is the end of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and being that such things become acrimonious, in the end both sides will be saying...good riddance

3. Either way, my point is that this merger will give a single company way too much power |

big bad bosses at MSNBC can't bring themselves to say David was fired. Jeeze he went to CNN to film a pilot and of course they fired him, but they won't say it!

and people just don't give a shit, because to them, money is all that matters... the rights of the wealthy class are obviously more important to them, like hypnotized weak minded idiots who can't see farther than their weird ideology that wealth should dictate everything.
