The first delivery of Boeing's already long-delayed 787 aircraft may be pushed back again, according to a report in Aviation Week.

The magazine reported on its website that the aircraft maker has told its early 787 customers about potential delays of up to 10 months.

Last month Boeing President and CEO James Albaugh said the company was still on track to deliver the 787 to its first customer in early 2011.

Aviation Week reported that Japan Airlines will take delivery of its first 787 in June 2011 at the earliest, with other airlines pushed back even later.

3. The 787 is not competing with the A380
The A380 is a super jumbo. The 787 is a mid-size long-range jet.

Unfortunately in the globalized economy in order to sell planes in parts of the world the countries require you manufacture parts of your aircraft there. What a maze - one part coming in from country A, another from country B, etc.

2. I was so excited about this plane. I've seen it fly over a couple of times and
I got chills. It was so quiet (you could only hear the tracking jet or whatever it's called), kind of slow, low, very gentle feeling if that makes sense. And those graceful upswept wings!

We used to build the entire plane here all the time. I wonder if we'll ever see those days again. :(
